Installed a load of shit to give a whirl, was interested to see how Legend Of Grimrock II was. It was interesting seeing how all the key bindings had been mapped. It's just a shame the game tells you FUCK ALL on how to play it.

Still, got loads to be getting on with.

I love mega threads like this on Reddit which occur several times a week - somebody buys a Deck and goes 'what's good to play'

You can always pick up something you've never heard of for an instabuy or wishlist

My pick up this morning from it is top down Max Payne inspired bullet time twin stick shooter Hong Kong Massacre - literally never even heard of it.

Also quite like the look of Wasteland 3

I'm certain Wasteland 3 makes the rounds in bundles, too. I'm pretty sure I got my copy from humble choice.

As for those Reddit threads, I should probably make a copypasta for every one of them for free karma. Just keep telling everyone about the good news that is BallisticNG :coffee:

I've finished starting up every single game in my library once so offline mode works properly with every game now. I'll probably get on with Dredge this afternoon while giving the fancy headphones a spin.

Have any SteamDeck Outrun 2006-ers had issues since the latest system update? I had it working flawlessly for the last couple of months, but since the most recent system update it just pops up "The Direct3D device is unavailable" error and quits back out whenever I try to run it.

I'll have a look - I think I'm on the latest update now, and I need to re-add it after changing my SSD, so might as well kill two birds with one stone.

Ta. These are the steps I followed when I originally installed it:

I do wonder if it might work without the fix for the reflections, but I haven't tried that yet.

Compared that guide, I don't think I bothered fixing the visual stuff and I used ProtonGE instead of experimental.

Anyway, my game seems to work alright - the error you mention about a D3D device made me think that I should run the config program again, so I added that first to make it recognise the graphics again (I'm guessing something changed with the new MESA/RADV drivers), and then went back to C2C. Desktop Mode shat the bed so I had to restart, but trying the game in SteamOS mode was successful and I did a quick run of the arcade mode just to check, and it seemed fine.

To add, I just followed that guide & it worked for me, didn't do the reflections stuff, just stopped once it ran.

I loved this back in day but had it on the PSP; assuming I could run both, which is considered to be the best version?

I think the PSP version is 30fps, whereas the PC is 60.

Reassuring to hear I should be able to get it up and running again, I'll give it a go this evening. Thanks both!

My one no longer works. Going to redo it I think

I'm guessing you followed the same guide as me that was in this thread, no? I'd probably run the config file and then try it again.

I've tried to like that Outrun (only the PS2 version) but just can't warm to it, I know it's sacrilege to some but I just don't like Outrun handling.

Now PC Blur on the other hand is a rare beast as nobody bought it on Steam and it's long delisted - servers long gone too but the single player can be got running and is a superb game. Reddit as always has all the advice on this and it's not very tricky.

Had to do from scratch and works now.

However droplitz no longer boots so that's a pisser

Do all Bluetooth headphones or earbuds work with Steamdeck?  I've tried so many times to connect my Jabra Elite3's, they pair in Steam mode but won't connect.  In desktop mode it doesn't even find them.  Can't find any info anywhere regarding this issue.

1TB a2 class Integral micro SD card £105 at Amazon, been hovering around £114 for a while, not sure how much lower it went (if at all) during Black Friday.

I'd set £100 as my biting point but not going to quibble over £5

I've also had no problems connecting to Bluetooth with headphones so far, although my selection is fairly limited.

But as mentioned, Bluetooth in general can be extremely heinous with lag. I can live with it in most games, but let's just say I'm glad my new headphones came with a TRS cable socket in case I play Rhythm Doctor on the off-chance.

I always go wired for gaming headphones. The lag is horrendous otherwise

Oh same. I've got a decent PC headset I use, but it's not the most portable option. :D

Fine around the house though.

Know I'm a bit of a stuck record but holy shit at some of these 2010s games - Spec Ops the Line on full settings looks glorious and plays brilliantly. I'd never heard of it til I found a YouTuber this morning going back and recommending older games that play well on the handheld. Latest Proton GE and not had a blip or stutter so far.

I worked on this at 2K LA :) I was the database manager for the QA team and I got to meet some of the devs when I worked E3 that year.

Little known fact, we spent a fair few hours testing the multiplayer (and map packs!) that never came out.

Two of my favourite projects to work on were this and The Darkness 2.

Thanks all for headphone replies.  Gonna buy some wired ones, sadly.

Have to say it's a lovely bit of kit, pleasantly surprised.  I was expecting something very plasticky like the Steam controller.  Feels like a fairly premium device.

Just so you all know, I too bought OR2006 years ago, and it's one of the first things I installed on the deck thx x

As did I. It was actually the main reason I bought a deck.

Back up and running with Outrun 2006, reinstalling without the extra fixes did the job.

A brief aside on Outrun 2 and nostalgia...

It's been one of my favourite games for coming on 20 years now, and was a significant factor in my decision to buy a Steam Deck. When I initially got it up and running earlier this year, I was just out of hospital after a bit of a health scare. As I swept round the first few bends and the sea came into view, I was back in the front room of my flat in 2004. A flat I shared with one of my best mates, who passed away last year.

Then, at the start of the second stage, Clarissa waved her hands in the air and declared "I want to go far away!", and suddenly I was struggling to hold back tears.

So, yeah, it's good to have it working again.
