Something that isn't over 100gb. Does anyone have Worms W.M.D? Was going through some old bundles and found I had a key for it and wondered if anyone fancied a game at some point? Been ages since I played so should make the easy victories.

Emudeck is absolutely essential imo.  Having classics from bygone eras to hand is awesome

Do you know how the deck handles Xbox games? I have the choice of running PS2 or Xbox versions of certain games and don't know if the latter will run worse due to the weird PowerPC architecture of the Xbox.

XBox emulation is getting to an okay place, but the long and short of it is that if there's a PS2 or GameCube equivalent, it's going to run miles better.

That's across anything, btw, not just on the Deck.

For anyone who has sent their deck away for a repair, did you send it in the carry case?

I was going to just send it in the carry case using the original box.

Also, i arranged a collection for monday with UPS but it didnt ask me to confirm an address. I assume they use the address Valve has on file?

Yeah, send the whole thing back, including the charger, in the box if you still have it. You’ll get a brand new one in a brand new case.

Protip: you can keep the cleaning cloth and you’ll get another cleaning cloth with the replacement. You can then sell the brand new cleaning cloth on eBay like I did! Every little helps.

Nb: not sure if the cleaning cloth is exclusive to the 512gb model or not.

Thanks!

You sold a cleaning cloth on eBay? 🤣

Did you have the option for a UPS pickup?  If so did it ask for any details?

Just curious, when playing a non-Steam game, something on EmuDeck, Epic or whatever, does the name of the game appear to others on their friends list?

Probably not as it doesn’t appear in the activity feed, which includes your own activity.

I did my initial ship via DHL drop off. The dude at the shop said he didn’t need the invoice (it was going to the Netherlands) and I got it returned to my home the following morning.

After contacting support they gave me the option for UPS drop off, so I did that as I didn’t want to be waiting in all day and there was a place on my way to the gym. I’d presume they’d use the address on your steam account though, it should be on the label you print out or readable via a QR code if they sent you one for the driver to scan instead.

No. It shows as "non-steam game".

Has anyone else noticed their Steam Deck get a bit 'creakier' as it ages?

I've had mine 3 weeks now and to begin with other than a tiny bit of flex near the SD card slot it was rock solid. It's now flexing a bit near the USB C port too.

No where near a problem or anything but just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar.

Nabbed raiden legacy off cdkeys for 2.69 even though it was unsupported on the steam deck. The 360 version goes for silly money but I've always wanted it.

However, 5 minutes of research, downloaded protontricks in desktop mode, enabled a d3dcomplier option on the game, switched to experimental mode in the games menu and it's up and running with zero issues.

Now to get outrun 2 running.

That’s easy. You just install it from your steam account since you bought it before it was delisted :eyebrows:

I'm such a sucker for this sort of aesthetic in a game and saw this on a youtube vid for new deck verified games

it seems a lovely little palette cleanser of a game where you fly a paper aeroplane across environments, with an upgrade path to your planes available to increase their flight dynamics. the claim is the control is simple to play but hard to master with some physics beneath the simple directional buttons - intital feeling is this is the case.

got a single player and set of leaderboards for a weekly challenge (only 6 people played this week so my top 6 placing just now feels good).

won't be for everybody but seems quite lovely on initial play.

Titanfall 2 is just another of those 'how is this little handheld doing this' titles. I'm no expert on FPS but it looks really good to me (as it should for 30gb plus of space taken up), doesn't make the fan blow too hard but does chomp thru battery. Origin presented no issues signing in but does seem to make the initial load a bit slow, after then it's all good and very satisfying to play.

According to this it's also shifted almost 100k units in the last week on steam, which is amazing for a game of this age - this site is yet another Steam rabbit hole looking up how many copies Euro Truck 2 has shifted and the like.

If you get this working can you let me know how you got on?  I tried, only once, admittedly, and while it paired with the M30, the buttons didn't work.

Happy birthday. :)

Going back to this - the M30 definitely works, at least in xinput mode. Hold down Start + X on the pad so the two left LEDs are flashing, then hold the pairing button on the top of the controller down so it'll start in that mode - it should come up in the Bluetooth menu.

So, the dock. I'm still not convinced it's a great idea - from my limited experience, the unit doesn't wake from any old controller that's paired via Bluetooth, so I'm still throwing myself across the room to play games and that's kind of guff compared to just picking the thing up.

The image quality is also a little soft when playing at native settings on a large 1080p telly, but that's also a thing my switch does and ultimately more fucking around corrects that, so it's not really a problem.

Buuuuut, there are things I like! The UI works really well even with an external controller, and I genuinely appreciate having the same level of integrated generic shortcuts on a controller as the Deck itself. Having the Deck's tiny fan at a distance means it blends in with the rest of the room's acoustics so it's anywhere from silent to extremely quiet. Also, the screen automatically turning off when docked means I can just download stuff while it's hardwired to the network, and not worry about lowering the brightness of the screen or moving over to desktop out of paranoia of IPS screen retention.

So, I'd say it's a nice-to-have thing. I couldn't see myself ponying up for the official dock mind, even with VRR being on the table with the Displayport signal.

Just blitzed through Octopath on the main pc (WiFi is dodgy for Gamepass streaming) and new Spongebob on PS5 for review. Was all set to get settled in with my Steam Deck at last and now I've got review code for Inkulinati. At least I can try that on the Deck. Got Dead Space on the way for PS5 too. Lucky I'm enjoying tinkering with it rather than actually playing games on the thing!

I got Wanted: Dead for review in all fairness. But I've got enough of that done the the podcast.

What's Inkulinati?
