Steam Deck (handheld from Valve) - shipping is 4-8 days from NL to UK

Another random older one from spending far too long trawling the sales and watch gamemaker toolkit vids - the kings bird at £3 80% off.

a 2d fast and fluid platformer with what feels a deep and tricky to learn control system that seems to fuse n++ ninja momentum and nights into dream floaty flying bits.

deck green tick

RXC remains though my new Deck fave - if you liked Circuit Superstars have to check it out, much better physics/control. The rallycross tracks giving me strong Ivan Ironman Stewart vibes too.

I want to buy that so badly but.. I can't put down bloody Parkitect. Its so damn annoying, addictive and good at the same time. Lost hours to it, even restarted a campaign park this morning cos I wasn't happy with the results. Need more money for Steam! 🤣

This has been a real ‘validate the purchase’ game for me — I absolutely love it, and wouldn’t have played it unless I got the Steam Deck. Such a smart little twist on the RCT gameplay.

Added everyone who wasn't already on my list :) Slowly saving up for my Steam Deck. Was going to get one for Christmas but then our house buyer pulled out at the last minute and sent everything into flux. Working my way through my Switch and PS5 physical games to get cash and already looking through my (ridiculous) library working out what'll get installed on it.

Been playing a little of Against the Storm. It's a resource management/city builder thing with a hook of having many smaller settlements that you kind of need to sacrifice to progress the game.

It runs pretty well and controls well. It had UI scaling, which works for the most part, but could do with a text size option as well.

Finally got around to sending my deck back to steam a week or so ago, and they are preparing to ship it back. No way I’m getting it before Xmas I guess but glad to know I’ll have the last bit of the holidays to set it up again. I’ve missed it.

it’s back a day early! Played a couple of hours with it tonight and the difference is night and day!

The sandpaper crunch feeling on my L stick is gone, and the y button is fully responsive and doesn’t get stuck down anymore (touch wood these issues don’t come back). They were minor problems and I put up with it for months, but they were making me not want to use the deck (it cost too much to feel like a shitty 3rd party controller!) so In incredibly glad I did.

They also told me to not post the charger, but sent it back with a new one. Which is a nice bonus.

It’s just a glorious machine isn’t it?

Coupled with my Analogue Pocket, (and miyoo Mini) I’ve never had a year with so much fantastic handheld hardware released. A golden age.

So, it finally happened, I can play splinter cell conviction on steamdeck.

Finally got the windows install to work properly after clicking on some random guys vid, someone mentioned comments a solution to the audio drivers issue I was having...now well chuffed with the results.

Runs on desktop Steam and can use deck buttons and sticks to play.

I, er, need more friends.  I'll be a terrible friend.  I'll either not have time to commit to a multiplayer session or family things will interrupt any session I manage to join.  I'll basically just be noseying at what you're playing. :)

My steam deck arrived today, I had tried to cancel my order for the past ten days but Komodo (who are the distributor in Asia) ignored all my emails and tweets and shipped it out yesterday anyway. As theres a roughly £25 penalty fee for returning it I decided to keep it. System is excellent so far, been playing a bit of Portal and Bioshock Remastered which both run beautifully (although for some reason theres no rumble in bioshock). Also ended up buying enough games in the sale to last me for all of 2023 🤣

As a new to PC gamer with the Deck the Steam sale just keeps on going and going as I explore more - reddit, twitter search on Steam Deck and just messing about in the store keeps uncovering stuff I've never heard of for a few quid I'll probably like.

Cheap pickups in last day or so :-

Radical Rabbit Stew - not got a clue but looks cool

Satryn Deluxe - just over a quid and looks like a twin stick Minter Robotron type thing

Wullo - think this is on every platform, a sort of platform metroidvania

The Kings Bird - floaty graceful arty 2d platformer

Pikaniku - again on everything but cheap and interesting looking.

Sale pickups before xmas :-

Grapple Dog - lovely old school 2d platformer with a new school grapple hook mechanic

Elec Head - super clever puzzle/platformer

Left 4 Dead 2 - rude not to for less than a quid

Broforce - been out ages on everything but never played, seems great

Celeste - a double dip as have on Switch but don't ever pick that up or have near me

Anyway none of them are as good as RXC - that game is just superb, such good handling and racing. The way it decides the grid order is genius, the red lights go out and then you are timed on hitting accelerate on 'green'. Launch control starts too by holding handbrake. It's a sim in isometric clothing, far more so than Circuit Superstars. You can feel the weight transfer under braking and the surface changes, the little cars are so well animated and responsive.

Had a few refunds too with games I not mentioned as some stuff a bit flakey on Deck or just can tell instantly I hate them, so don't mind refunding if no intention to play them.

I could have gone crazy, but my backlog is bad enough as it is, so I just picked up Battle Brothers, Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, and Luck Be a Landlord in the sale.

Battle Brothers is great, basically a turn based Mount & Blade, although controls are a bit finicky as they always seem to be with mouse driven games on the deck.

Added to a pile including Vampire Survivors DLC, Amid Evil, Trails in the Sky, Noita, Dying Light, and so on and so on.

I've been tryng to play Midnight Suns on the Deck, and while performance has been okay, I was encountering occasional black screen crashes. Advice on reddit suggested I try installing CryoUtilities, and that seems to have stabilised things for me, touch wood. I was sceptical at first that tweaks to the swap config would reducing crashing, but there you go.

Is RXC seamless on Deck? It looks fantastic.

totally seamless - just not verified yet

been messaging the devs on Discord and they both have Decks and say got plans to optimise even further, but no issues at present in terms of it running out the box, supporting controls perfectly and playing brilliantly.

tbf, I don't really do multiplayer but do love to check out what people are playing and use their wishlists to dispose of duplicate codes from bundles :)

I usually just like it for having leaderboard stuff. Struggle to find time for MP on a regular slot.

Managed to get Death Stranding from Epic running via Heroic. Had to update Proton to 7.43 (I think, will check if anyone wants to know). Set it to 40fps and runs perfectly. Then I remembered it's not the Director's Cut (got that on PS5) and I couldn't face those opening hours again so I've uninstalled lol

I think this is my Steam ID? 3654179 (Stormbringer)

Profile is in my sig as well

And there's also the RLLMUK Group
