Can anyone recommend some decent Steam Deck shoot em ups?

What style of shoot em ups?

ZeroRanger, Jamestown+ and Blue Revolver for STGs, Synthetik and Assault Android: Cactus for top down 360 shooters, Cultic and Neon White for FPS.

If anyone was a fan of the old Rollercoaster Tycoon games I discovered a great modern clone of one called Parkitect. Works on the Deck (best with a mouse in Desktop mode) and looks like a proper decent modern version of it.

Parkitect is brilliant. Open RCT2 is amazing too, plus it has multiplayer.

I'm only a few hours in but love how familiar it all is, perfect update to the old game. Only problem I have with it is the tutorial, seems a bit bare bones at the start but starting to pick it all up.

I've had my Deck since the beginning of September now and I can honestly say it is the best gaming hardware purchase I've made since the release of the first Xbox one. I've definitely had way more fun with it than any of the series x, ps5 or switch consoles I own. What a fantastic machine!

It's very VERY good isn't it.

And to think I had that buyers remorse on day 1. It is just superb.

Dariusburst is great, as is Natsuki Chronicles and Devil Engine.  Resemblance to R-type varies, but they're excellent (comparatively) recent horizontal shooters :)

Finally picked up devil engine myself as it was on sale, heavily influenced by Thunderforce, lovely stuff

Been debating the last 24h whether to go for the known triple dipper of Wreckfest in the sale (deck verified and £10-20 depending on DLC packages) or an early access newcomer which doesn't even show a Deck status in RXC Rally Cross Challenge.

Steams brilliant refund policy meant I thought I'd give the plucky newcomer a try and initial impressions are so good - runs with no fiddling needed at all and it feel quite lovely, bit like Circuit Superstars but with a more grounded physics handling model. It's the work of 2 people so I thought I'd cough up the £16 and not wait for a sale, they expect at least a year in EA until it hits version 1.

With racers you often instantly get a feel for something and this just felt great from the moment you lap an oval in your crappy starter car.

I bought myself a SD as a Christmas gift last week.  I must say that it has far surpassed my expectations in terms of build, ease of use, performance and all round greatness.

I have been an on and off PC gamer for 25+ years now and when I have been most into the hobby, it was usually driven by tech lust and a never-ending pursuit of more performance, newer hardware and shiner graphics.  The SD nullifies this desire in me by being 'good enough' and just getting out of the way and allowing me to enjoy this vast library of games that I have acquired.  Gone are the hours of tweaking settings, finding optimised drivers, running benchmarks... now I can just play!

Rather than post in the Quest thread with the same point, I'll continue here.  I bought a Quest 2 for me and my 3 kids to share and it too has blown me away.  Having used a variety of VR setups in the past, the pure simplicity of the Quest is what makes it so great.  Like the SD, being able to just pick it up and play has so much value to me and, although it isn't necessarily bleeding edge tech, it feels somehow magical to have these devices in the hand (or on the head), delivering such rich experiences with no faff.

Have you tried Super Woden GP? Ive enjoyed what I've played, 90's Amiga/Neo Geo style isometric racer

never even heard of it, looks like it's in the sale with a new game out next year. not got a Deck green tick or status, you've run on deck with no problems ?

I do like an isometric type racer, really like the newer breed which marry the viewpoint with some modern physics too.

That RXC Rally Cross game feels like a gem already, the handling model is sublime and running very smooth, not stuck a frame rate overlay up but not noticing any choppiness.

you really are jostling wheel to wheel from the first race with the other cars, looks like a lot of circuits already implemented and quite an extensive single player campaign to unlock and work through

That Super Woden looks a touch 'floaty' in that vid above, unless the person driving is just pish.

Another convert! My daughter is so taken my deck that she’s just pooled her Xmas money to buy one. She’s going for the base model. What’s considered the best mat screen protector?

I think any of the tempered glass protectors on Amazon will do - you can pick up one with a dedicated applicator (like the Benzcap ones), but it's not totally necessary - you'll find the Deck's screen is recessed a little, so you can line up the protector against the plastic and drop it in.

I'm still to-ing and fro-ing between Tetris Effect and Path of Exile. I started Moon RPG, too. It's like the polar opposite of the first year of a console launch, there's too many games to play and in a way I'll be grateful when newer games don't work on it

I keep getting these Steam cards. Bought piles of games and got them coming out of my ears so just stuck them on the trading market. Sold about 50ps worth so far but.. what's the point in them? They sell really quickly so someone must be collecting them, anyway here bother?
