Going to try uninstalling and reinstalling Rocket League from Epic on Heroic launcher. I know the game can run what appears perfectly, just doesn't show in Steam.

I think I installed it, then ticked the add to steam box after thinking firing the game up would add it in, but I suspect/wonder that Heroic adds to steam as part of the process of installing, not just firing up the game once it's been installed.

I was hovering over Fall Guys too but kind of fell out of love with that on PS after initially really being taken with it.

Above did the trick, did the reinstall, fired up once in desktop mode then went back to gaming mode and it's sat in the library.

Now I've got the curious issue that the game is saving my profile, car items etc but each time I load it I am forced to play the 2 min intro match which you can't skip ! Seems that has been around in one form or another for ages after a quick google, but not sure what the specific issue is with Heroic via Epic version of the game.

Not sure, the game doesn't show a steam cloud save (not sure it should as not a steam game) and it's clearly saving something as the profile and items are all there.

However I launch though gaming or desktop via heroic it's playing the damn into match, saw people had the issue on steam before and added something to launch line so will have a read on that later.

Back from my dog walk and had couple of ideas about Rocket League - I was getting it to run, but only after the 2m intro match using latest proton build not WINE, flipped it to WINE and seems to be crashing on the 'press any button to start' title screen (but did once make it thru to the menus before crashing out). So I can play games online but only if I do the 2m intro match, WINE bypasses that but won't run a match !

Looking at the comments under the vid I posted a few folks seem to have Rocket League issues so will wait to see a definitive response.

Shame I picked a tricky one to start with but its a good learning exercise around fiddling with Heroic settings and Steam integration so all valuable knowledge, and I do have 15 odd Steam and a couple of hundred emu games to be getting on with in the meantime, so should focus on them not the one I can't run !

So did nothing and left it alone, was back in game mode and saw the tile so thought ‘give it a go’

just played a flawless 3v3 online

WIP is the polite phrase, flakey would also fit, did throw an error when quitting back to Steam.

The fiddling is so addictive though ! I’ve said for over 25y I couldn’t be arsed with this sort of thing and loved consoles for their plug and play, I may have been misguided.

It's worth it when the result isn't sitting at your desk to play the games.

With respect to control the vanilla Version from epic didn’t work properly for me. Even after trying the fixes in the video above.  Would run but saves didn’t work/restore when I came back to it.

Fortunately I have a copy of control ultimate edition from gog (which was also free) and it works without issue via heroic. Just needed to toggle the proton version away from and then back to ‘experimental’ in the heroic settings. Once that was done the correct proton version was picked up and it’s run great ever since.  Performance felt a tiny bit better than the standard version too (though maybe I was imagining that).  So if you have the choice maybe try the ultimate version.

I'm in! Just ordered a 256GB model. Looked at loads of comparison vids for the two screen types and I just prefered the brighter look, never going to play it outside so should be fine. Need to sort a fast SD card and some games!

Can anyone recommend a good Monster Hunter game to start out with?

Upgraded my 64gb model to 256gb with a cheap ssd off cex, quite an easy upgrade all in

Yeah was surprising how easy it is. I'm waiting for a 512gb to come down so I have a drive big enough to dualboot Windows & SteamOS

A 2230 SSD yeah?

Yeah 2230 SSD, CEX screwed up my first online order and sent a 2280, took that back to the shop and grabbed another off their site. I've a 400GB sd card in mine for the bulk of the installs. Must learn not to install everything though. You can only play so much!

Yeah, I prefer the glossy screen. The anti-glare one is obviously better for reducing glare, but it also gives this kind of frosted look to everything.

If I was to go the CEX route too, any particular brands to go for?

Also, any dock recommendations?
