Let me help you out there:

*clears throat*

"I'm 100% positively sure a new Tenchu will never, ever happen. It's an IP nobody cares about, that is absolutely not suited for a metaverse!"

And now we wait for the universe to be offended.

At least one person cares :)

A Tenchu reboot was *this* close to happening btw (also FAO @Cyhwuhx) until that project went in a different direction and was renamed Sekiro. We were *so* close. The main character in Sekiro even reuses sneaking animations from Tenchu 3 and Kurenai.

There was this one guy who used to visit a gameshop I used to work in, and every single time he visited he couldn't talk about anything but Tenchu, as that was litterlally all he ever played. To this day I still do not understand that obsession.

Was that persons name @Mr. Gerbik?

I don't think @Mr. Gerbik is a hyper-violent constantly out-of-work bar fly. Or is he?

EDIT: Just checked his fb page, and he even took a picture of himself in a ninja outfit a few months ago. And it's been 12 years since the last Tenchu game. Them games sure have a loyal fanbase.

Interesting that they've already approached Disney. I think EA would be too big for one of the manufacturers to get away with anyway and realistically, only MS would have the cash to close the deal.

Yeah, a Disney or even Amazon or Google if they were actually serious about their respective game streaming platforms.

I imagine Tencent's ears have pricked up too.

It's been a while, so here's services company Keywords buying up a game developer directly.

Oh, and guess who's now buying a stake in Embracer group?

Saudi Arabia has acquired a $1 Billion stake in Embracer Group

It’s the latest in a series of gaming investments made by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Saudi Arabia has purchased a $1 billion stake in Embracer Group, acquiring 8.1% of the company’s shares.

Following the deal’s completion, the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) – through its subsidiary, Savvy Gaming Group – will be the second-largest owner of Embracer Group shares.

PIF is a sovereign wealth fund chaired by crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, and is is reportedly central to his goal of making the Saudi economy less reliant on proceeds from oil.

The Embracer deal is the latest in a line of investments in video game companies, which may raise concerns for some, given Saudi Arabia’s longstanding history of human rights abuses. The crown prince in particular has been accused of ordering the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Looking forward to a future where 90% of my new game purchases are done on itch.io assuming they don’t buy that too.

Well, Epic already bought Bandcamp, so...

I can't keep up, what games are the publishers under this group responsible for? For wallet-voting purposes.

Almost all of them at this rate. Biggest names are Gearbox and a lot of ex-THQ stuff but they have an absolutely vast number of subsidiaries and developers.
