I would probably go with the original 12" version of Blue Monday. Yes, there are lots of other great tracks in their catalogue, and yes Blue Monday is pretty overplayed, but it's a classic track. Share your favourites!

Although Ceremony and Age of Consent are up there.

Blue Monday is of course a masterpiece but also I've heard it too much.

New Order are my favourite band. If I have to choose a favourite track it’s probably going to be Temptation. Ceremony, Everything's Gone Green and Age of Consent are up there.

Its definitely Blue Monday (original), followed by Temptation 12" and this as their greatest 12" mix

I prefer the live video version:

I'm not a big New Order fan, I've not heard all of their albums, i just have a few on my ipod. When Leave Me Alone came on in a shuffle for the first time when i was driving late at night it was perfect driving music, it's more melancholy tinged than their usual stuff which i guess is why i like it.

Otherwise, Age Of Consent and Your Silent Face feel like the most quintessential New Order songs.

Any of those mentioned on Power Corruption and Lies and the singles around that period.

But yeah, especially Age of Consent. Clearly the best band on the planet at the time. Go Barney!

This performance, on BBC’s Rock around the Clock, is semi legendary. They had played in Cornwall before and travelled up to London, got stuck in traffic and were very very late.

The studio was not used to or set up properly for live bands and that caused problems. They didn’t like wearing headphones to play live.

They had programmed a different set list into the sequencer, (I think Stephen mentions it taking all day in his book) and when they arrived in the studio it wouldn’t play so they had to play a totally different set. They then bought new equipment as a direct result of it.
