Abramovich wants his £1.6bn loan back.

Which made me realise something.  Under his ownership, Chelsea have won two Champions Leagues, five Premier Leagues, five FA Cups, three League Cups, two Europa Leagues and a Club World Cup.  As one of the biggest clubs in England, they will have got the majority of the TV and prize money that there was to win, as well as the associated huge sponsorship deals.

And he still lost around £80m a year.

He wasn't in it for the money.  Thing is there's a generation of Chelsea fans (basically any of them under 30?) who think that how their club was run under Abramovich was "normal".  Even if the new owners are incredibly wealthy, which they will be, the rules of economics will apply and Chelsea could well be run in the same way as Manchester United or Arsenal have been under their current owners.  They'll probably still be towards the top of the table, they may even see silverware, but averaging a trophy a season for twenty years probably ended on February 24th.

I also doubt you’ll see the same turnover in managers being fired.

You’d think Man City will calm down now. Madrid had to profit from the panic. Man City should feel like they are good enough to control the game again, Grealish was getting a lot of joy down the left and was really unlucky not to score earlier. That route should still be open for them in extra time.
