Isn't GT's natural comparison Forza Motorsport? I haven't played GT, but it sounded more about the racing.

Indeed it is. Played both over the years and Forza was the one that pushed things forward allowing for lots of car customisation and better AI and sounds etc. GT was always the better looking game though I guess however FM the better game to play IMHO. Now they are pretty similar as GT has been influenced by FM a fair bit.

Anyway one for a different topic I guess.

thing is after a while the lifestyle stuff just fades into the background to the point you don’t notice it. You’re only hitting it massively at the beginning because you’re in the tutorial.

This is definitely true, and I'm so far into FH4 that I had completely forgotten how much of it is thrown at you at the start. Before long, it'll be you, cars, the open road and whatever races you optionally fancy doing. It will draw you back in a little, if they follow the same model and do things like additional story updates. But I mean, world's fastest delivery service was a hoot, so I'll forgive that.

It's easy to see that it's incredible at what it's trying to do, but I just don't get the appeal of open world racers. Driving between waypoints is so dull. And the scripted showcase things may as well be videos. It's stunning to look at but I'll go back to GRID and Wreckfest for my racing kicks for now.

As has been said we're not the target audience for the lifestyle cobblers. Thankfully the older woman who presents the classical music station makes the occasional dig at the young 'uns that brings a wry smile.

Also found a community challenge where you had to do a ton of drifting down a course to beat a score. Weirdly after all the concerns re drifting it just clicked and I beat it easily. Can't remember where it's located as it takes it off the map when you complete it.

Aye the character interactions in this detract from the experience. I just think they are too often, and the main character is a total bell. Reminds me of some snotty slightly richer kid in public school, and whilst nowhere near rich enough to be a private pleb, they still think they own the place because their old man drives a lexus.

Come to think of it, I know adults like this... Jesus.

But yeah, game has so much to offer, but stops me from blasting between it easily, without nonsense shoved down my crabhole. Even the radio stations contain way too much flapping.

The setting for this though is ridiculously pretty. Looking forward to seeing all the landmarks.

I actually like the fantasy of being wealthy enough, to host or be part of an event like this, but want to fill in the events in my head. Not be constantly told, THIS PERSON WON HORIZON EUROPE AND IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. WHAT A STAR. LETS SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO. CAN THEY MAKE IT AGAIN!

The first game felt like a theme park. One where I was a part of it and forged my own experience. And the radio stations played at least two songs without telling the player they are god's gift to humanity.

Again, these gripes are tiny in the scope of it all, and it is gorgeous, and really fun to be in. I am just miserable and old.

I want to be in racing overalls and wearing a helmet.

I want everyone else to be doing the same.

And no-one should say anything at all.

Ever.

No-one should ever do weird dancing when they win either. I mean, I’d allow it if I could then run them over but otherwise no. Just…no.

That would be fine.

My character does power flexing, wears a shiny space suit, a luchador mask and my car horn is a tune from Banjo Kazooie.

fite me

Just like Riders Republic, I enjoy the over the top stupidness of the characters. Go play Assetto Corsa or something if you want SRS bznz. The story stuff with the Vocho is pretty decent.

The Zenvo TSR is bizarre. Not much fun to race as it's so hard to control, but a laugh when messing around in the world.

60fps or gtfo. Why this isn’t default I’ll never understand.

is this the first game or perhaps aaa release to ask what your pronoun should be ? Seems like something that should be at a dash/user level similar to analogue stick inversion preference , not at a game level. Quite a bizarre thing to be asked on entrance to a game…..

The whole aspect of the 'story' is pretty awful. It feels like it's desperately trying to be hip and cool for the kids, but it's fairly embarrassing? It feels like they've asked a whole load of Youtubers into the voice recording booth and got them to do everything.

Aside from that, it's awesome fun. I am shite at it at the moment, mind.

Yeah I had to put headphones in and even then I look at my phone when they’re talking.

This game has left me both excited for Fable (visuals and environments) but worried for Fable (faces, characters and dialogue)

Seems absolutely fine to me, I’ve mostly done road events in a BMW 1M tonight though, so not much off-road.

On certain cars like some Porsches and say...Caterhams it maybe a handful as most people struggle with the balance of the car given the limited range of the analog pad. So they're easier to spin when, say, power isn't correctly controlled and the cars just slide away from you.

Thats why its really for a wheel - you get the full lock to lock distance. The other modes dampen that down.

The cars can still spin (and tbf if they are, your not driving the car properly) but its not as easy. Its just as difficult in FM7.

Some cars are easy to drive like that - esp. those with good balance, obv. Its more pronounced with all aids off, obv.

Jesus Christ you all sound like a bunch of whinging old men sitting in a pub, drinking bitter and complaining about those ‘young people’ and how things were better back in the good old days

Nothing wrong with a bit of youth culture (in fact I appreciate when games and media give me a peek into what the kids are into nowadays) but this feels a bit more “how do you do fellow kids?”

Anyway, glad to hear that shit goes away the more you get into the game.

New drivers haven't helped, so must have got lucky before.  Ah well.

that sucks hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

seems to be working ok for me, played for over an hour and it didn't crash anyway (t300 on pc)

edit - i didn't think the festival/annoying stuff was that bad, seemed a bit less annoying than i remember from 4 anyway, and iirc previous games had unskippable intos to new menus and stuff which you had to wait and listen to, but you seem to be able to do stuff while theyre chatting away now so that seems better too. i've been enjoying it, more of the same, but it's still great fun

I appear to have done something daft, but I'm not quite sure why it happened. I went to my car collection and decided to drive the McLaren Senna gift car. I was taken to the auto show to buy the car, which I did, although I was slightly perplexed why I had to. I now have two identical cars in my collection. What did I do wrong?
