Shazam! Fury Of The Gods

Saw this today. Was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty decent.

Was dreading Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu over-hamming things but only Lucy Liu was guilty of it.

Was quite funny in places. And the two actors playing Billy came a lot closer together as being the same person compared to the first movie.

Despite what the director has said in interviews recently I'd be pretty sure the first after credits scene is a very recent reshoot. Also the post final battle coda has Levi with much shorter hair than the rest of the film, and I wonder if that is a reshoot too- but when from in relation to Gunn's shake-up I'm not sure

Saw this yesterday - I like the first one quite  lot, and along with Suicide Squad 2, its the only two DCU films I've been happy to rewatch (I liked Wonder Woman, but that terrible CGI ending and the terrible sequel have put me off).

Enjoyed this one - its a bit over long/clunky, but retains the charm of the original, has got some good humour throughout and the inevitable CGI fest at the end was actually really good - the CGI varied in quality throughout the film, but the monsters all looked cool and the end battle was surprisingly decent compared to most CGI heavy end battles.

Glad I hadn't watched the final trailer and the 2 end credits were quite amusing.

So - certainly worth a watch if you liked the first one and a lot better than the Rock being miserable in Black Adam.

Got back from this today.

It was all rather flat and the action sequences at the end obviously had heaps edited out because it was all disjointed and it felt like you were watching the bits that didn't end up on the cutting room floor.

The ending was just...well...dumb and basically... superfluous.

Not a patch on the first one.

I really liked the first one and the mostly positive reviews here mean I will check it when it hits streaming. It has flopped mega hard though. I think this is the end of the franchise.

This is actually worse than Thor: Love and Thunder for the cringe to laughs ratio. Not even a single decent gag. Doesn’t have any of the heart of the first film. And it shoehorns in a needless franchise cameo in a far more gratuitous and ham-fisted way than anything Marvel Studios have ever released. It’s a dogshit-grade stinker.

Couldn’t agree more. I enjoyed the first one, felt like a breath of fresh air at the time, but this was about as funny as a rectal prolapse. How it’s gained decent reviews beggars belief.

God this is so painful to watch.

Spoiler

So they never did bother trying to deal with the power of Solomon

And ended up with Superman's final battle in BvS?

The cameo was the worst.
