I thought the oddest thing with the

Spoiler

kids all turning into the "adult" versions of themselves was that the college age girl was basically an adult already, so a bit more jarring to be replaced by another actor.

EDIT: which has apparently changed for the sequel, which makes sense.

Is there supposed to be some sort of relationship between the Shazpeople and Black Adam? It's just that their chest emblems are so alike.

Yes.

Originally, back in the day, Black Adam was supposed to be Shazam's replacement. But you know what they say about power corrupting?

anyway, I don't know how the DCU tie it all up.

The detailed "chainmail" textures make them look a lot more like the Man of Steel suit.

Fun fact - there was a George Miller Justice League movie that was actually in production just ahead of the avengers movie IIRC, and 2 of the family here were cast in it.  Adam brody on the left was gonna play Flash, and DJ Cortona on the right was cast as Superman.

In case you’re wondering the other notable names in the case would have been Armie Hammer as Batman and Common as Green Lantern.

It nearly happened apparently, as in it was in pre prod with costumes made and everything. Then a bunch of stuff happened like the writers strike and an issue with filming it in Australia, as well as talk of them not liking the idea of multiple films with different versions of the heroes (there was still talk of a sequel to Superman Returns at this point and it was slap bang in the middle of the Nolan bat films) and it fell apart, and people moved on to other projects.

A spoilered synopsis for the interested

Spoiler

The film would revolve around someone hacking Batman’s servers to get all the weaknesses of the various superheroes, who then get infected with nanobots to incapacitate them. The bad guys (talia Al ghul and someone called Maxwell Lord who I’ve never heard of) were then going to use the brother eye satellite that they got control of from hacking Batman’s servers to activate and control bank of infected people, who would then turn into supersoldiers under their control. The people would have been infected by nanobots thanks to Lord having a fast food burger chain that had them in the food.

Sounded like the film was basically the first half all the characters would get infected and the team would come together due to the havoc caused by what happens to them. Then the second half would be them versus the Ultrons, I mean, Maxwell Lords army only at some point Superman gets mind controlled so they have to fight him too.

Maxwell Lord was the villain in the first season of Supergirl, and also in Wonder Woman 1984.

I always get him mixed up with the similarly-named Morgan Edge (who has likewise been played as two different characters by two different actors in the last few years, in Supergirl and Superman & Lois).

They tend to be featured when there's a need for an unscrupulous businessman-type villain who isn't Lex Luthor.

Some folks did a read through of that script. Can't remember if it was on YouTube or elsewhere.

The Shazam actor’s just outed himself as an antivaxx loon on Twitter, if you want another reason to give this a miss.

But don't worry Shazam fans, it's OK! He wasn't talking about vaccines at all! He was actually referring to examples like the 2009 settlement that Pfizer paid for false marketing of other, non-vaccine medication:
