Taito Egret 2 Mini.

Yeah, power is very finicky for the SoCs driving these mini cabinets (both SoC boards were made by Zuiki).

The general consensus via Japanese Twitter chat is to have at least 3A on the power supply to avoid lag, so it'll probably need a wall wart (and as it turns out, a better one than what I use to power all my shit, so I guess I'm on Amazon's case in time for Monday!)

I've just ordered the all singing version (Game Centre Blue Limited edition) from strictly limited games so it comes with the trackball, extra games, a control pad and a control panel (arcade stick)

Also ordered an extra control panel (arcade stick) from Games Rocket because i don't like the look of the control pad's d-pad and I will probably be plugging this into the TV so 2 players will have the same controllers (which is nice).

Due to arrive at some point in May.  Very excited although it is a shame that games like Parasol Stars, Chase HQ etc... are missing but oh well.

It is true that the western edition is limited to 5000 units?

What happens now then?

Rather unexcitingly they cancelled and refunded it and I ordered it again. Arrives Tuesday, I took the opportunity to buy the edition that comes with the trackball. Quite like the little instruction cards to slide in the top bit.

Disapointingly the trackball controller seems wired weirdly. Doesn’t work properly on windows or Mister FPGA. The spinner is a scroll wheel, the trackball a mouse. The buttons non-functional. At least for now.

This is by far the best of the mini arcades published. By god, what I would kill to have the SNK one in one of these shells rather than the floaty nonsense that got launched.

Never played Elevator action Returns - it's ace. Beautiful Pixel Art and great fun to play.

Didn't realise you could change the joystick between 8-way and 4-way control with the switch at the bottom. Ace.

I just forked out for the poor mans version, so i must not be worthy lol

Spinner worth it?

Not really, lotta money tbh! The spinner feels nice but its a bit janky in arkanoid IMO

In other news it looks like someone has hacked this:

Hopefully at some point a public mod will make it out

Anyone ordered this from Strictly Limited and seen signs of it actually being dispatched? Was supposed to be launched back in May but all went quiet. I received a DHL tracking code last Thur but seems DHL haven't received anything yet.

Not yet but had an email from SL explaining the reason for the delay and saying shipping had begun.

Ta, good to know it's not just me. Never had a courier informed of a package more than a week before it's been available to them before.

So 15 days later, it seems DHL finally received the parcel and it's making it's way to me. As someone with a compulsion to pick up all the quarter arcades, new wave toys and all similar devices I have to say that not only has strictly been the most expensive but problematic of the bunch.

Mine and two other people I know got stuck in customs. We got our letters about a week later. Get ready to pay the VAT again. Mine ended up costing an extra 83 quid

A week for a letter from ParcelForce ?!?!?!!?!?

I would have thought they would get it to you quicker than that but thanks for letting me know. I must admit I was expecting the letter today!

Have Strictly Limited messed up the customs forms I wonder?  I will certainly get  onto them after I received it to see if I can get a partial refund.

I think the lesson we and many people have learned over the years is that Strictly Limited are a shower of shite.

The Mini 2 is really nice though.

Would have to be something incredible to get me to use them again in future. I've had a few shipping issues with cabinets from New Wave Toys back when they used kickstarter but their support was good.

Checked my invoice and it shows VAT@20%, website also shows European VAT included. So assuming paying a second time means paying VAT for the VAT already paid.

It's not parcelfarce that's the issue, though they do piss about, it'll be royal mail and possibly the strikes and inevitable backlog that's building up.

Glad I didn't get mine from strictly, looks like your getting a double customs cuff.
