Two Point Campus - University Management Sim from the creators of Two Point Hospital

Been playing a bit on and off this week and I've nearly completed the second level/campus/uni. It really is a great way to relax, the animations are great and some of the rooms are really creative. There are still a lot of stuff I don't fully understand, though, like the Club booths and course points. Is it better to spend the majority to get a course really high level or would it be wiser to spread the points out to have several lower level courses?

Is there a "snap to grid" function for placing stuff? I tend to fuck up when trying to place furniture, often resulting in some spacing between  them which, in turn, ends up stealing valuable floor space.

3 starred level 3 last night.

I think the course points affect how many students you can have on the course. It certainly affects how high you train the teachers (which presumably affects students results?)

I struggled last night to keep staff happy. I had enough staff rooms based on numbers vs capacity, and had used all the vanity items I could and basically had a training conveyer belt set up but struggled to get above 55%.

Also there doesn't appear to be a salary/raise option for staff? My uni was rolling it in but I couldn't share it out, only horde it :(

I thought I saw a slider on a staff member I clicked which had money on it. I assumed it was to give them a bit extra. Not tried it though.

Ooohhhh I was looking for collectively. I'll try that tonight.

I think maybe they all really hated the small rooms they taught in - early efficiency biting my in the bum and I need to remodel as it goes on

There is a collective salary option somewhere to do pay rises. I think it's on another tab of the loan screen. It gets introduced a little later in the game.

That's my main criticism of the game though, there's so many systems buried inside menus. Relationships, events, clubs, wages are just a few well hidden systems that the game has that can really help with happiness and progression.

Overall though, I like it. It never feels as frantic and stressful as Hospital did thanks to the term time, holiday time dynamic. You can take your time during the summer to get stuff sorted. Finally having templates is a great QoL feature too.

Three starred the first/tutorial level, and agree with much that has been said already. It is a pretty chilled game, albeit for me much of that comes from playing Two Point Hospital so the slightly clumsy and cluttered menus feel familiar. The demand for Kudos-rich items does feel like something that should be patched and adjusted. It's annoying but thankfully not game-breaking.

Certainly will keep playing as it is the sort of game perfect for dipping in and out of, and after a quick glance at the achievements, it looks like plenty more layers will be added with each level as would be expected. Fun game that makes a good first impression, with the caveat playing TP Hospital previously might make the onboarding easier to grasp.

Most annoying thing so far for sure is the number of updates. Since my first download and play on Thursday morning I've had an update at the start of both play sessions since (both between 500MB and 1GB). Modern gaming I guess. Lucky my connection is fast enough that it's basically done by the time I make this post but I don't like waiting.

I was having real trouble with level 6 - Fluffington.

First time I focused solely on the course it was focused on (getting it to rank 9) rather than branching out.

I found the 2* objective for hygiene really hard and then the 3* for profit.

Spoiler

Hygiene I solved by checking every bed and toilet (not shower) and if below 90% repaired it. I don't think it tells you anywhere beds massively affect hygiene.

Profit....well I just layed all my staff off :DF

I’m similarly struggling with attractiveness on level four (I think)

Think I need to go building-by-building and tidy up a bit. Litter does seem more of a problem than in TP Hospital, or at least my ability to deal with it properly is.

I went round room to room and add lots of flowers, posters etc. My place was relatively tidy but staff/students were spending time in low rank rooms.

Bars of each happiness seem to go up and down much quicker here.

I’m playing this on Xbox and keep getting white flashes on the screen, anyone else experienced similar?

Not had the same on an X. Has been a couple of updates, but no real issues.

Enjoying this, it’s pretty chill. Trying to be more organised with my layouts but that usually lasts one plot and then my campuses become a free-for-all. Guess that might come back to bite me in the later levels, but for now layout doesn’t seem to matter too much.

Later on you need to be a bit more efficient to get campus points to level up courses to hit targets.

Finished and 3*ed all levels. Lovely and chill. The biggest issue is that you never get to run a "full" campus of subjects. You can go wide but you'll still likely only get to 5-6 subjects. Going "tall" can be much better.

The last level is a bit of a pain - if you pick the wrong courses/options you won't be able to reach income target (without cheating) and you can't undo course choices.

Hadn't realised Sandbox mode was just the same maps. Not sure whether to keep going or bail with happy memories.

My latest grind is getting, and keeping, student hygiene above 75%. Got it there at the start of an academic year but it’s now plummeted to 56%. Built more shower rooms, put up excessive amounts of hand sanitiser dispensers but think I might just need to hire more janitors to keep the place clean as well.

Find with the game there’s a point where income is sufficient enough to just throw money at a problem. Got $2m in the bank, so will add 5-6 janitors, add some more dispensers and see if that spikes the hygiene numbers.

Also need to be better at using research and training rooms. Actually, improving existing janitor skills as well as a recruitment drive probably isn’t a bad idea.

Spoiler

Summer holidays is great for that type of task

Manually check on every toilet and bed. If below 90% click the call janitor option.

I struggled with that - my lacklustre beds were a big problem. They weren't green/smelly but had a huge impact

Stupid question, but I’m not near my Xbox so can’t check - is there a setting for text size ? I can’t read any of the hints as they’re too small.

If you move closer to your Xbox you won't need the setting.

Sorry.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a bug on Blundergrad:

Spoiler

To get two stars I need to expel three moles, but the little confusion symbols aren’t appearing about any of the students.

Suppose I could just expel everyone though…

Moved ahead with other levels, quite like Breaking Point for being a bit different and it’s the first level that feels like it requires a bit more planning.

Spoiler

I went with General Knowledge and Archaeology (for the sweet, sweet income)

Levelling up clubs is proving slow work though, think I need to focus on one at a time. Will play around and see if I can’t get the requirement.

Moles turn up pretty infrequently

You can’t miss it - iirc the game tells you one’s present beyond the confuse symbol

Yep, for the tutorial, but none have shown up since. Not had any alerts either. Will restart the level to see if that helps.

They were fairly uncommon but that's all I can recall

Had a look around the interwebs and apparently there is a bug related to the moles appearing. My Blundergrad college is in year 12 and only seen one in the tutorial, so don’t think they’d be that uncommon :)
