I've been watching this (3 hour long!) overview of VF5: FS to get an idea of how it's meant to be played. Forewarning: it does open with the phrase "what's up, bitches?".

I think I feel a bit weird at my own lack of excitement considering I’m the resident forum vf fanboy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to have another period where I’ll be able to get games again, but it just feels like another sega rerelease and not something that leads to another main entry in the series.

I'd love for you to be wrong too, but it does feel that way. We're way overdue for a proper VF6. I love them all and I think the fighting game market is as strong as it's been in ages. It's just a bit of a shame that it's such a limited rerelease.

 

Time to fire up VF2...for old time's sake.

man, I’d love to get back into VF but don’t have any arcade stick except the VSHG - which doesn’t work on PS4, right?

 

I’m saving my pennies for a PS5 when I can finally buy one, so can’t justify spending extra just for the sake of this game. Anyone out there prefer a controller for any reason?

Your options are either a PS3 to PS4 Super Converter by Brook, or a universal fighting board, also from Brook to replace the PCB.

Thanks for the info - I can get that converter easily enough, does it have any latency issues? Not had great experiences in the past with that type of device, but I’d prefer not to have to do surgery on my stick itself.

Didn’t ps3 sticks work on some games. Was on the developer end to implement iirc. Vague memories of using a vshg for sfv but having to keep a ds4 powered on to stop it going to sleep.

According to this link, you are right. Tekken 7 and Streetfighter V are both on the compatibility list, so there is some small hope. I won’t buy an adapter just yet then...

If you replace the PCB with a Brook you'll end up with some of the lowest latency in the game. Between them and DaemonBite that's where you want to be.

The Virtua Fighter x esports live stream is on now. Dunno what it'll include. Maybe just more info on the game? Tournament dates? A hint of a VF6 (optimistic)?

Thanks. I knew there was something today, but couldn't find anything on it when I looked twenty minutes ago.

 

Never been a fan of these 'chat show reveals' though. There's typically a lot of drawn out nonsense said between anything of note.

 

Edit: Decent amount of footage so far. Also, since the RGG team's on it, I hope Wolf's stage features Saejima hunting a bear in the background.

I was a little unconvinced at first but the graphics do look a lot better. 
 

Edit - nothing enrages me like watching a shun player get to 20 drinks. 
 

Edit 2 - despite myself I am feeling some small level of hype. I might even turn my PS3 on and hit training mode tonight.

Another month where I’ve not been too keen to be the thread starter, because I didn’t want to be associated with a shit lineup, and a general air of disappointment.

 

obviously I don’t mean “shit” shit. Just... not for me. The first clue is the still sealed, bought at Tesco for £20, copy of squadrons on the front room floor. The second is a distinct lack of VF in my video game collect. Except on the megadrive, Saturn and Dreamcast I don’t own any of them...

This thread's actually for VF specifically, the fact that it's on PS+ is just kind of a coincidence but still worth mentioning in the title.

 

General feedback about PS+'s offerings this month are pretty positive, incidentally. I haven't played Squadrons yet, but I have heard good things.

Man, i'm astonished at the work rate of RGG, in between Yakuza and Judgment sequels they somehow found the time to remake an entire fighting game, impressive !

Was there something in the stream suggesting that arcade VF5: Final Showdown custom character data can be transferred to the arcade version of Ultimate Showdown? Can't find where I read that. I wonder if that means all the previous game's customisation will be available in the console versions?

 

I kinda suspect they'd make up for the fact the game is "free" for the majority of the audience by selling loads of piecemeal cosmetics.

Absolutely. That was the sole reason I chose him as a main back on 360.
