So they're 'redesigning' the maps, i.e. completely overhauling the flag placements. OBSOIV!

The whole post is worth a read. Personally I think it's going to be way too late. If they do a Billy Big Bollocks 2.0 re-release with gubbins, whatnots and substantial incentives it could work. It did for FFXIV. I picked a Series X copy up from Tesco for £16 when they were clearing out. It's still in the wrapper, and I've already been bitten by buying Anthem when it was £6 because I thought they'd stick with their "We're fixing it, honest!" thing but I'm a fucking idiot. What can you do?

4 months after release and they're only now getting into rejigging the maps - but are focusing on one specifically. This demonstrates both how broken the game was/is in other areas - prioritising scoreboards over core fundamentals like this - and just how much ground they have to cover.

 

That blog post intimates a Season 1 release for updates to one map. So, that's June. Until then, adjusted capture points is the best we're getting. If there are more than a couple of dev squads left on the game at this point I would be astounded - EA have put it into hibernate and placate mode at this point.

 

Those updates to Kaleidoscope are ridiculous, and the blog post is almost a tacit admission that they got at least one mode completely wrong (possibly the whole game). They're moving two A1/A2 closer together to that they are theoretically easier to defend, but they're also broadly in open countryside so that'll be fun. It looks like it'll still be brilliant for being the defenders and getting massacred by aircraft in the opening salvo too.

 

B1 gets a defender spawn point change which...uh...does something I guess? C1/C2 are just closer together again. It looks like they are trying to create fronts, and to do so are effectively abandoning 50% of the map. Shows just how bad a shape it's in IMHO.

 

If the game isn't formally dead and unsupported by the end of Season 1, I will be absolutely astounded. I get the feeling the only thing stopping them doing that now is the fact they sold 4 battle passes so need to churn out 4 seasons to avoid a class action lawsuit/refunds.

Probably beyond saving I'm afraid. There are 5 times as many people playing V on Steam, not a good sign.

 

I played quite a lot of BF2042, got to level 85 I think but haven' played for a couple of weeks. The lack of content and replayability is my main issues.

Also, not gonna lie, but as much as I like 2042 I feel sick to my stomach whenever the game puts me on the Russian side atm.

 

I'm on hiatus for this reason.

Well, the new patch is out and it probably makes the game the best it has been...now, make some bloody maps or at least put the BF3 and BFBC2 maps into general rotation.

 

Oh....HDR seems to be switched off on PS5 for some reason and I can't put it back on.

The word on the street is that this may be coming to gamepass ultimate (As part of EAPlay) sometime soon. Maybe tomorrow with the start of season 3?

 

Either way I was bored and fancied playing this. I cancelled my pre-order in the run up to launch and was thankful I did. I bought a copy for my Xbox on cdkeys earlier today and... I had a great time. Running as a medic since I can't shoot for shit. In a couple of hours tonight I managed to get 19 levels on the outgoing season 2 battle pass.

If you’ve not played it since launch (Very understandable) then you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

 

Me and my regular BF crew (Some of us playing since BFBC2 or before and we’ve put in thousands of hours across the past few games) all deleted it post launch but since season 2 we have been back and it’s a lot better.
 

The vehicle balance is far better, the new and reworked maps are an improvement, certainly still not as good as the older maps but better. The gunplay and movement is great and the gadgets add to the experience. 

 

With the addition of this to Gamepass and EA Access, plus support promised past season 4, I’m more optimistic than I was a few months back. It’ll never be a BF3/4/1 but it’s playing very differently at launch. Give it a go if you miss Battlefield 🙂

I did the same. There's so little of actual value in the Battle Passes they're pretty redundant tbh. The daily missions help spic things up though.

 

I jumped back in for Season 3 and played a bunch on the updated maps and the single new one. Eeeehhhhh. It's ok, it's fine. I'll jump back in for a couple of weeks for S4, but I'm really not that bothered beyond seeing how the re-introduction of the class system rejigs thing, and seeing how the reworking of the docks map pans out - as that and Orbital were the two biggest missed opportunities they seem to be fixing.

It's approaching 12 months since I last played it (or any other BF games for that matter). It pretty much killed any enthusiasm I had completely dead - and my interest had already declined following BFV, which I didn't like much at all (although it had it's moments - regularly topping the scoreboard with over a hundred kills in the Zero was fun!).

 

I kinda feel like a junkie who is now clean - I'm not sure I want to play any Battlefield again lest it waken the old addiction. :D

 

I also strongly suspect that the tinnitus I now have is the result of basically sitting in a surround-sound warzone several nights a week for years. :(

I play on and off with Kris and a few others, the game has improved since launch but I am still left with a sour taste with how it was all handled by EA. That coupled with having other games to play that are frankly more enjoyable and it will take a bit more yet before they get me back playing on a regular basis like with previous games.

This appears to be on PC EAPlay/GPUltimate now and presumably XBox too if anyone is interested.

 

I'm slowly starting to get into a groove. I still can't shoot for shit unless I have the drop on them and TTK seems insanely fast but I'm following groups around doing my medic shit. Currently level 11 and level 6 in the battle pass after a couple of matches on the new map.
