So have everyone moved to other games?

I must confess that I quite enjoy this now, eventhough it is rage inducing sometimes.

After watching Stodehh use the AC42 as a DMR that is now my go to loadout. With a 2,5-3X scope and almost zero recoil, you drop snipers before they knew what hit them. 👍

As they also added TDM it is now a bit easier to get a good amount of kills in a short time to unlock attachments.

Still playing. Took a break for a couple of weeks on the run up to Christmas as I wanted to play some other games (one of them being the Modern Warfare campaign which, well, literally doesn't work so good job to everyone at Activision for that). Here's a fun match I had earlier today (slow start where I fuck around with the drone, fair warning):

The game remains broken, no doubt, but it also remains fun - and I do think it's arguably the only iteration of Battlefield that is actually fun to play if you're just running solo without voice comms. If you play a way that makes logical sense - defence first, grab points furthest away from the biggest concentration of enemies, take your time in securing objectives, don't rush into battles and wait for backup, and stick with the specialists/gadgets that make sense for your playstyle - it's all just typically good Battlefield fun.

I'm glad Hazard Zone has fallen on its arse, as hopefully it will be a pointed reminder to EA to not change the core of what has historically made a franchise great and well loved. Also - I fucking hate Breakthrough. I hate it in 128 player, I hate it in 64 player.

Good to see that I am not the only one still playing. 🙂

But I must say that the lack of content is starting to affect my enjoyment. Level 69 now so I have unlocked all there is to unlock and with so few guns and gadgets I feel that there is very little more to try out.

Haven't really used all of the specialists yet, but I can't see the use of the majority of them. If I play Conquest I use Angel, for TDM Boris is the go to choice.

I think Rao could be uber powerful if you're in an organised squad with lots of vehicle crushing weaponary. Jam a chopper with AAs on standby, it'd be game over for that pilot very quickly.

But yeah, it's all Casper for me playing solo.

Rao was my go to guy in the start, but he seemed to get buggier and buggier with each update. Now a days you never know if you succeeded with a hack or not. I have had hacked choppers fire their flares seconds after being hacked.

Being able to resupply unlimited AA missiles with Angel has also turned out to be more efficient against choppers. Some games I only stand next to my crate and spam rockets at everything I can get a lock on. 😆

... I had not even considered that. Fair enough!

Word of this seems to be getting some traction now but for once it's totally justified - the subreddit for this game is fucking rank.

Honestly, I started visiting that place to try to learn about the weapons, best loadouts, how to mitigate some of the bugs but fucking HELL it's awful, cringe even. It's like teen angst turned up to 1000.

Just a horrendous cesspool.

Popped back into this last night as COD Vanguard has been left in such a shit state by the team it's unplayable now (one shot kills with shotguns with a range of a sniper rifle, and even worse - a stuck 6 maps only rotation in every mode for the last month)

I noticed with interest from the menu that there is a 2042 FreeForAll mode now, so of course I jumped in.

They have to be congratulated on making possibly one of the worst "no effort made" FFA modes in recent memory.

FFAs usual modus operandi from all recent FPS online shooters (that provide it) are terrible, but this one is pretty special.

Make FFA great again

Couldn't agree more, a camp fest with people hiding along the edges of the map playing Boris. And so did I. Super effective having your turret spotting enemies, popping out of cover and shoting at a big orange target. Snorefest galore.

Of all modes available FFA is probably the least suited to a BF game. Give me 128 player infantry only Conquest on the 64 player versions of the maps. Please.

I’ve been plugging away at this for a while (at rank 62) in the hope I’m going to come across a gun that is actually any good. Now they’ve removed Rush 2042 it’s probably time for me to play something else/more fun.

I still use the second LMG (PKP i think) or the PP29, I have done s lot of tinkering on the gun handling in the options too after checking some youtube vids (I am on PS5 but still seemed to work).

Went on Series x yesterday as it was free for the weekend, using default everything, could not play it, would need to go through all the settings again.

If you are still playing on default settings, fair play to you folks, I can not use them.

I also changed a few buttons around, touch pad melee, gadget - grapple for example, on right shoulder button, clicking right stick does nuttin noo....no more phantom melee.

Had to double up on a couple of buttons, grenade and spot on dpad up, big map and something else on dpad left....never touch that one.

To get vehicle call un menu, hold dpad up and left shoulder.

May sound weird and unworkable, but....second nature now and grappling with the shoulder button just feels right.

Would be great if there was an option to disable buttons instead of having to double up....who ever uses that big map anyway.

still can't believe I paid so much for the early access version. played it 3 times and deleted it.

fuck you EA and as for Dice RIP

I have gotten my worth out of it, played it for AGES - but I could have also paid €20 less for the same content. Well whatever, lesson learned and all that.

One thing though - having to wait until at least mid to end June for any new content is... Fuckin hell  That alone kinda puts me off even booting up the game anymore as it's stretched a bit thin now as it is.

Something tells me in a years time this might actually be pretty good - but if I am struggling with the idea of maintaining interest until June, then your average person will not even bother.

The biggest nail in the coffin for BF2042 is that they're addressing a whole bunch of peripheral shit that might make the game marginally more enjoyable, when (IMHO) they need to be reworking the existing maps extensively and delivering new, exciting maps constantly.

The core of a good game is there - specialists and all - but the maps are just dogshit. There's been some recognition from them for this - removing the dull-as-dust skyscraper capture points - but you're still stuck on some rolling fucking sand dunes with no cover, or flat muddy fields with infinite line of sight.

Fuck, at this point, if they announced a bunch of remade BF4 maps and just chucked them out they could win a chunk of love back. Instead they're more concerned with eradicating XP grinding loopholes from Portal because it might affect how much money they can get from the very small number of people still logging in (sub 5k per day on Steam now)

The first thing they could do to improve the game tenfold is to get rid of the operator nonsense and just have 4 classes like BF of old.

There will now be a further delay to the (already dleayed) stuff they provided an update on yesterday.

Over 3 months to put a scoreboard in a compettive multiplayer game, these guys make 343 Industries look hyper effective.
