Iv only played the tutorial. It looked dog shit.

The tutorial was atrocious... no idea why they thought that was a good idea, graphically atrocious and played really poorly.

Fortunately the actual online component looks vastly superior to that.

Is there any reason to use other weapons than the DMRs?

Just had a Conquest game on the map with the oil platform. There is literally zero close quarter combat as every spot seems coverable by long range weapons.

They should halve (at least) the size of all maps and add much more buildings.

It is more World of Tanks than Battlefield. 😑

At the moment it’s only actually any good to use the DMR or Sniper anyway. All of the automatic weapons (even in burst mode) have random bullet spread, so even if you’ve got perfect sim and firing in bursts, most of your bullets will miss.

So, on the subject of specialists, I think there's a few there who are most impactful on the way you play, but I've actually been surprised by just how strong some of them are in terms of how they influence the wider game.

Irish's ability of deployable cover seems, on the surface of it, to be almost entirely redundant. However, the ability to drop cover over slightly undulating open ground as you try to hold a point and take the the next one in Breakthrough is game changing. It's a progression of the BF1/V fortification mechanism but more dynamic. You can block non-tank ground vehicles with them and they're wildly durable. Stairs become defendable, and when attacking you can secure them foot by foot. These are really going to come into their own, but will probably take hit on durability at some future balance change.

Angel's abilities are also brilliant. Infinite but timed ammo resupply coupled with the ability to res anyone on your side (with clear markers that you are able to)? Oof. Again, on Breakthrough, this is game changing. Get a couple of these working well on either side and those front line wars go on longer and harder. Their other ability - calling in a loadout crate so people can change their loadout - is similarly strong when contesting points.

I think for people starting afresh who want to be useful, Angle is the class to start with (replacing the old school medic class as the best way to learn the ropes).

I need to play more/some with the others (and haven't even unlocked some yet) but those two are impressive for the All Out Warfare side of things.

How do I find my ping.

I bet it’s in the multiple hundreds. I fired 3 shots at someone’s head and they killed me and had 100 health.

Also I seem to be playing the same 3 maps over and over with a 4th one coming around now and again. I’ve not played the beta level in 2 days….

oh dear

You don't, they have conveniently removed the network graph. Which was selectable in the beta but didn't work.

I'll have to try this on console again as it's not much different than the beta on PC. The framerate isn't spectacular to say the least but I suppose in hindsight it's maybe just really, really, really laggy.

I had a game (Series X) where the last 5-10 minutes ran at about 10 fps. Performance seems to deteriorate the farther into a match you get.

But using a DMR has improved the "fun". The SVK seems to be a 2 shot kill at almost all ranges bar the extreme.

I think I have to accept I'm just terrible at this. I just can't see the enemies and then get shot at point blank range. Pity.

Same though I am making some progress.

Unlocked a few attachments, nothing special but they help with machine gun recoil. Also you can change firing rate by hold down L1 and down on d pad.

I’ve just been having fun attaching C5 to drones.

What platform are you on and which map is that? I'll have a look on my PS5 and see if it's the same.

Caspian border on the PS5, its the only map that has that problem, as long as the fight in not happening in front of the sun its fine, if it is, that big 50p is in the way.

My brother decided to try the ps4 version after some truly bad matches on PS5...he prefers it now, double figure kills and all sorts for him now.

I had another try of this last night and still couldn’t hit a fucking thing in Conquest mode. The maps are impressively big but as some have said, you really do struggle to get a feel for how the overall battle is playing out. Just concentrating on a couple of points seems to help, but then you start wondering why they bothered building such big maps anyway.

I suspected it was just my atrophied skills, but I tried a BF3 game in Portal and got a couple of kills quite quickly so I wonder if its either netcode struggling with the bigger player counts or weird bullet modelling going on.

It looks quite impressive in places and there is a game in there I want to like, but I’m not sure i have the time or patience to find my groove with it. Maybe with a few unlocks.

If they put Locker/Metro in it so I can get familiar with the guns without having to run endlessly in giant maps I might like it a bit more…

Don’t forget you can call in vehicles with L1 and R1 (just look in the bottom left corner of the in game gui)

128 players fighting for C2 on Kaleidoscope in Breakthrough is absolute Battlefield mayhem at its best. You're either at the top of paired skyscrapers desperately trying to hold off the enemy who have control of C1 at the bottom, or you're attacking and trying to get out of the lifts/drop in from helicopters.

The net code desperately struggles sometimes, especially at the most busy points, but it's brill.

The lock on for AA missiles is a bit broken at the moment. It just doesn't work 50% of the time, and after they've fired chaff it takes too long to re-engage a lock. Given how incredibly murderous that little bird is (it can get to enemy spawn points before they've managed to make it 50 steps at the start of some maps) that needs balancing out a bit too.

I'm learning to hate hovercrafts. Hopefully they get murderised more once lots more people get anti-vehicle mines.

Last night I dialled the FOV down to 85 and found myself winning one on ones frequently, best round was 29 kills and assists (hopefully not 1 kill, 28 assists).

My brother did the same (well, 75 fov) and his kill count duly increased as well, he really not enjoying it until last night (well, not on the 3rd match, ended up with 1 kill and 9 assists, that was him back on "thank god for Vanguard" mode again, where he can rack up some kills).

Hoping Fridays full release brings some changes for the good, button mapping working would be great... heli flight controls are atrocious (for me), want back to BF4 controls if possible.
