My mate was looking to buy one today and out of 10 shops, only 1 had one in stock, with many shops saying they had been discontinued. A quick search on the net reveals however that at E3 nokia will possibly show off the new ngage.

Cant wait myself as id love to have an ngage which actually worked as a fone.

Interesting.

They've dropped in Gamestation to £174.99 with any game. Sold out in our store (sold all of something like 4).

Friend at work has one, he loves it, with all his porn, music videos, Futurama and whatnot on it. It does seem pretty nifty in all honesty, despite the shit quality of the screen and size of it.

The GC BBA hasn't been discontinued, but it's listed as that in shops. It might be that they're only going for internet orders, or from those strange companies you see in the papers (IE FREE EVERYTHING WITH PHONE + A CASE!!!111).

I'm pretty sure the BBA has been discontinued. We only ever got stock a couple of weeks ago, we received two, and I think they were just leftovers from the warehouse.

The only way Nintendo (this is coming from Nintendo themselves) are going to make any more, is if the company (Gamestation) orders a minimum of 5,000. We worked that out as 34 per Gamestation store. Which is stupid.

I imagine it's just Nokia rethinking their plans.

ngage is still being pushed by nokia, they are paying developers quite a bit to develop on it.

still won't buy one tho.

I'm not (and others) disputing that, just the fact they may be taking all this criticism and working upon it, a la the GBA, which allowed the GBA SP to come into play.

I think perhaps Nokia would have more success if they made a range of 'N-Gage enabled' phones. Perhaps phones that are less game machine and more conventional phone, but with the ability to play N-Gage games. Obviously controls wouldn't be quite as good, but I'm sure they could work something out.

Sell 'em cheap (with contracts) and rake in the cash from the software sales. To guarantee better software sales, reduce N-Gage games to about £15 a throw, or around the same price as a new album.

This would pull the mass market in.

Or not. And its all probably impossible to do.

I've heard that they're (Nokia) releasing a second revision of the machine, which was already planned before the first one came out.

Madness! It's almost like Sony.

Thats completely normal for a electronic manufacturer. Especially for one as fast moving as a telecoms company. Example when a new phone hits the production line (i.e before it hits the shops), work will be well under way on any number of sucessors.

Nokia have gotten themselves into a difficult situation.

The phone market is fast moving, with kids looking to upgrade their handsets every five minutes.

The console market is slow moving, with developers needing time to actually produce games for the thing before the next hardware upgrade.

So really, both of the n-gage's features are completely conflicting in their nature. The current n-gage hasn't been popular with either the gaming or phone crowds, so I dunno what they can do to make a good go of the second round.

If they are, and have them sim-free or on O2, then I'll get one...

Bahh, and I despised it at the start. Heh. Oh well. ;)

I got a Virgin PAYG NGage for £99 from CarPhoneWarehouse. The phone is unbranded and is unlocked so i just banged my Vodafone sim in and away i went. Now have all the games + mame on it (on one card). tis fantastic.

mame is pretty cool, its a early version that supports the smaller games like 1942, airwolf, pacman to name just a few. the nes emu and gb/gc emu seem to support pretty much every game ive tried on it so far too.

i notice on this thread that some people are actually beginning to ignore the whole "ngage is shit" bandwagon and actually try it out for themselves! good for you! im with rllmuk on this, it is fantastic to have all the games and mame on one system!
