As well as Natasha Lyonne, it's cast Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Benjamin Bratt and David Castañeda. Still no details about the show other than that.

These all seem to be in single episodes as guest stars sadly.

I know she has her fans here but I just don't enjoy watching Natasha Lyonne. Gave the first a try but I think that will be it.

I thought it was predictable on purpose, using the opening ten minutes to detail all the whys and hows in order to demonstrate what a messy business knowing when people are lying is. The audience knows when certain characters are lying, so we know what information Natasha Lyonne is working with and how patchy and disjointed it all is.

Anyway, I thought it was quite fun and will watch a few more.

Yeah, having watched the second one I think that's accurate. It's the Columbo model where we know the killer from the start so we're always one stop ahead of the 'detective'. Second episode is good but for a 70 minutes episode there didn't feel like there was enough story for the running time.

I'm a bit torn about this, because so far it's quite entertaining and Natasha Lyonne's Columbo impression is great, but essentially giving her a superpower is such a fucking stupid thing to have in a show like this it's almost making me angry never mind, it's won me over

On reflection, that superpower (which I also did not like at first) is just making explicit what was implicit in Columbo. There is nearly always a moment in a Columbo episode, often early on, where the murderer tells a lie and the show lingers just a little on Peter Fall’s reaction to it.

Anyway, I like this show. It’s good fun.

Yeah, I reached the same realisation. It's just making explicit what they handwave over in Columbo, and it's good fun, so why worry about it.

Biggest laugh for me so far has been in episode 3:

Spoiler

the vet's reaction to Charlie tasting the wood

I also can't remember the last programme with an x-of-the-week setup that I've watched, there's something nicely nostalgic about the format.

That was the second biggest for me. The first being

Spoiler

Charlie punching "Krampus" back into the portaloo

in episode 6. :D That caught me really off guard.

I can't say the "superpower" has ever bothered me. It's not overused, brings Charlie on a level with the audience and doesn't come across as being so over the top as being supernatural. It's obviously daft, but it works.

It's mostly good, although it had a couple of missteps for me. The theatre episode was going for farce but wasn't funny enough, while the racing episode was just a bit limp. The rest has been really good fun though, although I haven't watched the last episode yet.

I was pleased to see Glass Onion's hourly bong enjoy a more substantial role in last week's episode. :D

Yes, the racing episode felt like kids TV. I really enjoyed the one with the guy on the roof and the

retirement home one. It’s very easy to watch.
