Rob Zombie's 'The Munsters'

Universal have apparently handed the keys of the Dragula to Rob Zombie, with him set to direct a new Munsters movie this year. Unsurprisingly, the usual Zombie stalwarts are involved, with his missus taking the role of Lily Munster and more ridiculously Jeff Daniel Phillips aimed to fill Herman Munster size 26 boots. Suffice to say it sounds pretty dire before it's even started production.

(I fucking loved White Zombie and his first couple of solo albums, but every tour and album since has been the most obvious cashgrab since the Spice Girls reformed.  I mean, the man even played trailers for his own movie prior to the encore.)

I stoll can't get over Pixar's Planes using 'More Human than Human' in the trailers. Peak wtf moment.

Following this pattern, some time around 2045-2050 there'll be another revival in which both are released at the same time.

This has extremely powerful "I found this at Blockbuster in the bargain bin next to the Horror section circa 2003, let's watch it while stoned and laugh" energy. I'm not sure if that's a style he's trying to replicate with ironic detachment or he slipped on an empty Jack Daniels bottle and bonked his head on a countertop on the way down.

Is it just me, or is the video really poor quality too? As in, low bitrate and pixellated even at HD?

I think the official copy was only posted on Instagram and this and other Youtube copies would have been ripped from that. So that's probably the quality issue.

I thought perhaps it was a homage to the original show, giving it that 1960s TV look but nah, it just looks balls. It sounds balls. The acting is balls. The costumes and makeup are balls. 
 

You know what it reminds me of? When there’s a trailer on TV for a musical playing in your local theatre.

Yep that looks like a complete mess - the mocking bird lane pilot wasn’t to bad a couple of years ago.

 

I’m guessing this is some kind of money con zombie got the budget  from universal then made this on his phone or something and pocketed the rest of the money?
