Really enjoyed it. Scratched that nostalgia itch. Think of my age brought up when turtles were huge you can't help but get a big grin playing this

Would have expected April and splinter to be unlockables to encourage repeatability.

You need to get hold of mame with all of the cps2 games. So many side scrolling beat em ups, most of them bloody great.

You've never seen so many roasted meats hidden inside destructible objects.

Punisher and aliens vs. Predator are great. As are all of them, really :D

I’ve played Punisher plenty. They had it in the arcade at university and I have a MAME cab. Not tried AvP much though. Will give it a go.

They needed six characters available at the beginning for the multiplayer. I do wish there were a few more to unlock though.

While we’re on an old school belt scrolling tangent, anycunt else a fan of SNK’s Sengoku games? Now those are some rad bastarding games, man ✌️😎

No. The third game is especially repetitive as fuck, and got utterly berated at the time of launch for having just hordes and hordes of the same enemies over and over and over and over again. SNK produced and stockpiled loads of carts, and couldn't sell them for peanuts. It became a neo-geo.com meme in the end.

Today, I'd need to be on crack and have a gun pointed at my face to get through it. After a toot on the crack pipe I'd probably prefer my chances at taking out the guy with the gun.

Warriors of Fate (CPS-I), despite being far from great is the best scrolling slasher I can think of, and has 3-player to boot. Knights of the Round is a classic as well. These games have to have enemies with interesting attack patterns and behaviours that also work fairly and manageable when they're diversified into waves. That's what makes Final Fight utterly timeless, it's like the Super Mario World of the genre.

Just beat this with a couple friends online - originally 5 of us but kept getting disconnects :(

I do think some of the level design could have been changed up a bit but overall they did a great job. The animation is top notch and there are several great tracks in there too.

FWIW I agree Sengoku 3 loses the magic, but for quite different reasons to @Fallows. For me, it loses the schlocky brothel-foyer, Big Trouble-derivative grindhouse charm of the original and switches it all out for tighter systems, combos and improved character art and sprite work. Fuck all that, I want my belt scrollers to feel like they fell off the back of a lorry covered in pish and fag ash on top of me to the extent that I died and paid all my pocket money for the privilege

Played though loads of this with my boy and had a blast, then we ended up watching the first episode of the original series on YouTube. I’ve got vivid memories of the first time I saw it, I was at my best mates house and ten seconds after it ended we agreed that it was the best TV show of all time and we’d watch it forever.

I wasn’t sure when it was first broadcast here so I did a bit of digging, we were about two years behind the US run which started in December 1987, the BBC showed it here in January 1990 about five weeks before my 11th birthday.  Weirdly it’s about five weeks before my son’s 11th birthday and for some reason this little coincidence has made me really happy.

Sorry not been keeping up with the thread but anyone else getting loads of crashes on this in a series S?

Loving it otherwise though!

Not had a single one on mine.

I had a tiny bit of slowdown on one of the levels on launch day, but it's been fine for me.

Is this playable with the Switch SNES pads? A friend recommended it as a co-op game my wife might enjoy and she prefers to use those where possible.

Edit: yep!

That is really very cool indeed.  I may have to get this controller now.

Well, all I know is it kept my nephew engrossed for a couple of hours so it's got a Crash Smash in my books...

On scrolling back through the thread I initially thought your PS5 was under the TV and missed it on the side shelf.
