Press start + select twice is the usual hot key

Nope that didn't work, it's supposed to be start + A but it does f-all. The manual is comedy ... Will have to research to get the best out of it but at least out the box it has a great selection of titles.

Found it, was ignoring the analogue stick... The OS is a bit clunky. Will investigate custom ROMs at some point.

Quite surprised to find a screen protector in the box. Actually makes the system look more premium.

If you have Netflix then don’t forgot that the Netflix sub games are on android too. I’m playing shredders revenge and it runs really well.

Erm not sure I have android support on the 351V, thought that was on the one up ... if I can, how?

Have you installed button mapper? That causes issues with some software. I ended up uninstalling it.

All I had on it was a couple of the emulators from the initial startup what it offers, then I put RetroArch off their website, plus PPSSPP and then Redream on from the Play store.

Figured I'd not really done much in the way of setting it up yet so I just tried a factory reset before, declined any of the suggested emulators and went straight to the Play store and got PPSSPP again. Seems fine now, left analog working as expected 🤷‍♂️

Really liking my first foray into Android based systems with the RP3+

I had avoided Android in the past as preferred Linux but now happy to use both.

The RP3+ form factor makes me want a Switch Lite now though as I think it would be better in my hands than the OG Switch.

Yeah, and there are definitely pros and cons to both. Linux handhelds require almost no extra setup once you’ve installed an OS you like, but the performance in Android is better for the trickier systems, and it’s so easy to jump on a browser and download some games directly from internet archive.

You can easily make the case for owning at least one of each.

Yeah, Android involves a LOT more effort to get the system set up as you'd like.

I have my RP3+ set up nicely now and its great. I've just popped my RG353P into trading as I can't really justify having two of that form factor (I know it boots android too but the RP3 has more grunt)

The added bonus with android is also being able to install other apps, I've banged on a load of the free netflix games onto it and most work great.

Not in a rush at all really, I'd be happy to put it to one side for you if you wanted it

Do any of these things perform DC and PSP emulation well enough to have e.g. Everybody's Golf, Outrun Coast to Coast & Cosmic Smash on the same machine yet?

I haven't really kept up with this stuff for a while but think if i could get that combo going it would probably be enough for me

Im assuming we're not quite at GC emu stage yet?

retroid pocket 3+ will do dc and psp ok. Probably the cheapest one that will.  Think it plays some gc stuff but not great. More expensive ones like odin stuff and steamdeck will do gc better but i didnt look as much into them.

Thanks i will look into this

To be honest the steamdeck/odin end of things is a bit more than i want to spend anyway. Far too much tat in the house already to try and justify that to the mrs

Aye, I've had a bit of a play on my RP3+ of Crazy Taxi, Virtua Tennis, Rez and a couple other DC games with no issues. And after sorting my initial PPSSPP analog input glitch I've been playing some Lumines, Outrun, Mercury and a fair bit of Hot Shots Golf 2 on PSP and I do have a slightly weird thing on HSG where the little box what should show my player character is just empty, but it doesn't affect how the game plays at all so no bother. Maybe just a thing with the file of the game I have

Nailed a sweet chip-in eagle last night...

I've played a lot of HotShots 2 on the deck via PPSSPP and have exactly the same issue whereby the dressed up characters don't display but solely on the character select screen, in game is perfect. A recent upgrade made the putting green gridlines far more visible too which helped playability a lot.

It's a great game though, now opened up the later courses and it always gets bastard hard having to land the ball in a postage stamp before running off a steep face into OB or water.

The upscaling makes it look like a PS3 game and you really see how much the EMU adding when the resolution drops on a pre rendered video, or bizarrely the upscaling drops for a moment during the swing.

Small foibles though and one of my most played older games recently.

Just ordered a Anbernic RG35XX from AliExpress (hive of scum and villainy). Fingers crossed. £55 with tax whacked on.

I'm not hopeful of getting my hands on a Miyoo Mini, plus or no plus, and I fancy faffing about putting GarlicOS on it. More than actually playing anything.

I heard rumours on twitter that the last drop of 200 or so Miyoo Mini's will be the last they make (as they can't get the screens anymore).

Can't recommend them enough, for those willing to keep an eye on Ali Express.

One of the things I like from watching the videos of the miyoo is just the ability to just pay games with little fuss. My only gripe would be the shoulder buttons which seem uncomfortable but haven't had one to play, so withdraw judgement for now.

The shoulder buttons are shite, but it doesn’t have sticks either, so the games you tend to play on it don’t really need them much anyway.
