The Miyoo, but it’s all versions of Tetris up to and including PSX.

Had a go on International Superstar Soccer ‘98 this afternoon. Legit still a very good football game. Wasn’t so keen on Pro Evo 2 until I remembered the speed of the game can be increased. SF Alpha 3 looks gorgeous too.

Very content with the RG351MP, and glad I’ve limited myself to 32GB. Have 1GB spare, but think in a month I’ll have whittled my library down to 100 games across four or five systems. And still default to Mario Kart Super Circuit, the last great MK game before the series started properly rubberbanding and chucking in shit like blue shells.

RG552 arrived today. Here it is next to a GB Micro, RG351P, and Miyoo Mini.

Not sure what I’ll be using it for really, considering the others I have

It does seem to handle Dreamcast well, which is a nice surprise, and PSP seems decent from the quick go I had. It does have a lovely big screen too, so obviously I’ll be testing out 16-bit/PS1 stuff.

Well that was quick ...

Not much difference between the two. Swings and roundabouts. Lite can actually perform better sometimes on CPU heavier emulation.

The video actually shows how much emulation has come on if they're about on par. They weren't as fast as when Pro was reviewed.

The only cons being that on a newer chipset you're going to be stuck with Android and not put another OS on (no great loss) and the speakers lack a bit of bass.

Also you're going to get a different screen that will hit the battery harder than this one ... but odds are you were never going to realise that if there wasn't something to compare it to.

But does mention that the Pro CPU isn't working as hard as it could be and he's told Ayn. Hopefully should get patched up. Hey, it was worth the extra money to have the Pro for a few more months and at least it's not worse.

Gah, it just looks so perfect. Where did you get the September delivery estimate from? I was under the impression it would be much longer than that.

I’d love one, but I don’t feel good about spending £200 right now to get one at an unspecified date in the future/maybe not at all. I think I’ll hang on and see how many they fulfil over the next few months. Should have my Steam Deck by then too.

It's not guaranteed but what people on Discord are saying, based on people getting the Base/Pro and not having the extra pain Lite has been having.

Now they got the bits coming in they should be able to knock them out. There is a thought that since the screen is the last bit to go in, they may have put most of them almost together, but I doubt they were that clever.

That said though, also hearing some people waiting longer because they picked an certain storage size and colour.

Yeah, depends on how much you're willing to spend despite the wait. Half as much as a similar wait for a steam deck?

Think I am being organised now..

Handheld (GB, GBA, NGP. GG, Lynx, etc)
Miyoo Mini v2

8-16bit (NES, SNES, MD, MS, etc)

RG351M

MAME

Retropie

32bit+ (PS2, GC, Wii, Switch, etc)

Steam Deck

Other handheld (Vita, PSP)

Vita

Other Handheld 2 (DS, 3DS)

3DS XL

The more demanding stuff (PS3, 360) will be kept on the PC.

I think I get so much enjoyment out of setting up and organising.

Turned out I had 16GB left to play with, not 1GB. Spent this morning searching underrated PSX games and now feeling quite smug about my library of games.

Binned off Driver though. That ‘tutorial’

Similar here - Vita and PSP on cfw Vita, DS and 3DS on cfw 3ds, 8bit,16bit, ps1 (for the extra buttons) and Dreamcast on Retroid Pocket 2+, Mame, PS2 etc on PC.

Having said that, much like yourself I tend to get caught up in setting things up and then end up playing new release games anyway 😜 Looking forward to getting properly stuck into games on the Pocket 2+ when I'm on holiday in a couple of weeks though.

Hah! Setting these things up is definitely part of the fun. I also love working through loads of different ROMs, having a quick go of everything. There are a bunch I do want to focus on and actually play though, but when I’ll get the time for that is anyone’s guess

I think the benefit of retro games is that they are much shorter than modern games, in general, and my go to games tend to be quick fix arcade titles.

I’ve been very impressed with how the RG552 handles Dreamcast, I must say. I’ve upgraded Android and Redream and it’s almost perfect.

The Miyoo mini is great.

not sure I’ll bother with Onion, I’ve got the 32x and Mega CD up and running in Retroarch, got to play Sonic CD for the first time in decades on Saturday night!

I’ll spend a bit of time curating the games I want, get some GBC on there because I think they’ll look great on the screen and then take it from there.

I couldn’t see the Miyoo in this offer , unless I’m missing something?

My RG351P has sustained some water damage to the screen. Looks like some spilled water got inside the edge and now there's a dark blob coming from the left. Going to give it an hour and see if it sorts itself out but not sure what else to do. Bit annoying actually.

Get yourself a pack of suction cups. Gently heat the edges of the screen with a hairdryer (give at least a foot distance) apply sucker to middle of screen, gently pull and that sucker'll come right out, clean it, pop it back in, job done.

Dumb question time.

Can I run Onion OS on one MicroSD and MiniUI on another? Then hotswap?

I don’t know the answer to this, but have you tried both, and if so which do you prefer?

Mine arrived yesterday but I haven’t had time to tinker with it much yet. However Onion OS looks really decent going by the Retro Game Corps video on it.

Looks like I’ll be going with  Onion. I like the look of MiniUI, but it didn’t realise it supported so few systems and I want more than that on mine.

There’s a pack that someone’s made (it’s linked to on the official GitHub) which has loads of other platforms. It was just a case of dragging the emu folders to the memory card.

I’ve not tried Onion OS myself, might get round to it at some point, but I’m super happy with MiniUI. It’s just so simple and minimalist, largely how you’d expect an official GB Classic to look, and no messing around with themes or dodgy looking artwork or any of that nonsense. My fave UI of any of these handhelds.

Had my Miyoo Mini for a couple of weeks now and it's an absolute game changer.

Something that small, that quick to wake up, that runs so much and somehow makes everything look so gorgeous. I've been playing retro stuff on a Vita for a couple of years - but everything looks sharper and cleaner on this screen. No temptation to put any ropey filters on things, it just looks right.

Just the sheer convenience of it. Took a quick trip to Disneyland Paris at the weekend, and being able to whip out Chrono Trigger in the queue for a ride, then nip it back in my pocket right before boarding (in the case...apparently the screen is pretty fragile), was awesome.

While I'm here - hard recommend the Rosy Retrospection mod of GB Tetris. Adds hold (with Select) and hard drop, and therefore improves perfection.

Hmmm, tempted by this. But also not sure I want at the same time.

Huge thanks for this. Just had a go and it worked a treat.
