I assume GT7 can be played with a regular Dualsense in PSVR2, so why not Astrobot?

Astrobot used the DS4 lightbar and PS4 camera for tracking the controller I think? GT7 doesn't need to do that.

One tip for GT7 in VR: turn on tilt steering. It makes such a difference to the level of immersion! I was pretty impressed anyway, but that enhanced the experience. And then I went in that open wheel car that I can’t remember the name of, and audibly gasped. Being on track without a closed in cockpit is so much fun.

Is there a list of non-closed cockpit cars in GT7? I want them all!

Yeah, Astrobot uses the light bar a fair bit doesn't it.

I'd forgotten about that actually, so it would make porting to PSVR2 a little trickier, but still doable I'd imagine, perhaps without requiring the original team, if they're working on the next thing.

Edit: I should've checked the State of Play thread, as there's recent chat about it there.

Tilt steering also helps reduce motion sickness, especially if you fully lean into the turns.

I shall be trying that, how are you guys with it motion wise? Sickness I mean.

I cannot overstate how fucking cool it is to target enemies in Rez using gaze tracking.  It’s not set by default, you need to set the VR control scheme to type 4.  It does make it very easy, but good lord it feels amazing.

I struggled for a few months with PSVR1, and had one particularly nasty session where I tried to push through it on Eagle Flight, but once I'd found my legs I've been fine.  It's been said so many times in here already, but never try to push through it.

Need to wait another couple of weeks before I can order my V2, so I'm enjoying it vicariously for the time being.  The Move controllers and flakey headset tracking just ruined V1 for me.  Even if V2 isn't the quantum leap forwards as some of the youtube reviews were implying, the whole package just seems so much more refined.  I'm properly excited.

I downloaded the free Pistol Whip update last night, even though I won't be able to use it for a month.

Doubt it if the remake's going to be fully playable in VR.

Oculus paid for the Quest 2 version, so there's basically no chance of this. I'm pleasantly surprised that we're getting a VR mode for the remake, as I had thought that Oculus would have put in the contract that Capcom couldn't develop other VR versions. It was a big Quest 2 exclusive! But it's also very good, so it will be fun to compare to the remake.

I now want a VR version of GTA V as this headset is the most comfortable and clear I've ever used.

The OLED and HDR make Resi 8 look sweeeeeet.

Standing in front of the sparring mannequin and looking up close at its face was really creepy - then it winds up for a punch. The textures on that are so crisp and clear.

Spoiler

Have you got to a Lycan yet? I have completed this game twice. I got to the first one yesterday and soiled myself - proper nope!

Got to the first pile on and was just running round trying to remember where to reach for my medication - it was pointing near my shoulder and I kept grabbing nothing while a lycan was chomping on my testicles. Need to sort that out for tonight's session.

It's a free upgrade but it's easily the best thing on it for my money. To think we'll likely have RE4 later in the year is like Christmas come early.

I have mine!  No fury has been vented (yet).

So after a 30 min session I get what others have said about feeling underwhelmed. BUT BUT BUT I think it’s totally great.

As a great man once said, “I evolve, I don’t revolve” or something. And this feels like a really nice evolution of PSVR1 because of course it was always gonna be.

Tried GT7 (after playing hunt the disc. Grrrr!) and yeah it’s ace. Obviously a massive step up from the last thing I could compare it to (DriveClub VR).

And Thumper which is a nice little update with the haptics and fidelity boost.

Also gave cinematic mode a go and I reckon I could comfortably play 2D stuff in there now. VR1 always felt a little bit too low res and drift was a pain. (I have seen drift in this too which is irritating but I’m hoping it’s just the lighting in the room I’m in)

So yeah, not the mind blowing experience from VR1 but that’s ok. Looking forward to seeing what comes out over the next few years. (Please for the love of god make HL Alyx happen Sony)

edit: also the controllers and the setup were really cool. I liked the Tron-y vibes with the circles around the controllers.

Resi Village is fantastic, but it’s absolute vomit city for me. I’m new to this so guess I just need to grow accustomed to VR.

Thunper, on the other hand, seems perfect for VR. Lovely game.

Question: why is everything blurry, especially text? I can’t seem to get the headset in the right position ever.

Thumper is, essentially, in third person, which doesn't really trigger motion sickness. Nor do games in which your avatar isn't the one moving (like that horror lightgun shooter, since you're sitting still inside of a mine cart). IIRC, motion sickness gets triggered by the dissonance of you seeing yourself moving despite your body not actually moving.

The PS VR2's main downside, IMHO, is that it has an incredibly tight sweet spot. Try positioning the headset in slightly different ways; I had to pull the headband down towards the back of my head a bit more, for instance. Finding the sweet spot isn't really hard, but maintaining it whilst letting go of the headset is, I've found. (Which is why it's important to tighten the thing with the dial on the back.)

Not sure - I found the ghosting in Horizon really jarring but RE8 seemed really good to me. I find I need the odd adjustment but mostly it seems fine - it's quite subjective , I suppose.

Like Kromeo says, make sure you use the dial at the back to tighten it enough.

I'm gonna give No Man's Sky a go tonight. I recall not liking it on PSVR (poor visuals and the motion controller issues), but really liking it on PCVR with my Rift S.

Regarding my goes on Horizon and Resi, I think I'll switch to snap turning. I think I used snap turning on Half Life Alyx and that made longer sessions possible.

Regarding Resi, as I've just mentioned, try snap turning instead of smooth. That queasy feeling when the camera moves for you though is unavoidable.
