What's that wheel and pedal stand thing?

Looks like a https://wheelstandpro.com/

https://nextlevelracing.com/racing-stands/

do a stand too, check out this thread for more questions and advice etc:

Nice to see the initial reactions, but I gotta admit, I'm upset at the lack of floor pizza stories from VR virgins on day 1 :D

Capcom have tweeted on JP website that VR mode for RE4 has started development - that  sounds like more than an bit of additional content.

Guessing that won’t land at release then.

A wheel stand. Maybe a https://wheelstandpro.com/

I suspect there's good chat to be had about them in the steering wheel or sim racing threads.

Cheers.

I suspect there is but I thought I'd ask given there's a picture of one in this thread.

Not as expensive as I'd have thought if I'm reading the price as European format with the comma as a decimal :|

I'm cool with that - just finished it on the Quest. Perhaps an announcement on SOP tomorrow and Q4 release - pretty please?

Oh I didn't mean it like that (for once). Just that I'm sure there is lots of good existing discussion to be read or new discussion to be had with people who really know that stuff, whether they're using VR or not.

@b00dles Yep it's a Wheelstand Pro, had it yonks.

The wheel is a lowly old Thrust master T150 I think (can't check as in home gym at mo). Had to replace the pedals when GT7 first came out as the brake pedal had knackered due to age probs.

Probably. I wouldn’t be too surprised if Half Life Alyx is announced. I mean I don’t see much of the press talking about how badly PSVR2 needs it or anything so maybe they already know.

Disclaimer: the above post may contain wild speculation combined with foolish assumptions.

I demand* that all first impression givers on this thread qualify if this is their very first VR experience or whether they own(ed) PSVR1/others.

* this is entirely to quell any fomo I will have today

I actually managed to get my PC to run HL:Alyx last night decently on my Quest 2 and its incredible. I would love to see it come to PSVR2.

Any impressions on the games /experience from Quest 2 owners?  Interested to know how it stacks up against it both nativly and for PC stuff.

What the Bat is fantastically stupid and a great use of anyone’s time.

Impulsively bought the drum game last night, impulsively bought this now. Sold on the trailer and PS plus discount. It has its own tag on the store.

Cheers, just ordered one to really melt my bank account this month but in for a virtual penny...

I'm a seasoned pro. My VR experience ranges back to the Trocadero in London in the 90's at Segaworld as it was just round the corner at work.

It’s my first ‘proper’ VR experience I would say. Before this I had a Gear VR back in 2017 and whilst I thought it was good, it’s nothing compared to this, night and day. It also made me quite ill and put me off VR completely, until now. So I’m really taking it easy this time having learned my lesson back then. So far so good but I’m getting some unease, still a way to go before I get my ‘VR legs’ if I ever do.

Not gonna lie, initial impressions as setting up weren't great. It looks so blurry and has that bloody whatsit thing, where colours split? Some games have it as a design choice but I can't recall what it's called.

Anyway, setting up the eye distance was easy, I was worried it might be a bit difficult as I have a lazy eye, though it does move in sync with my good eye, but it's amazing then looking at the little dots and seeing your eyes look at them perfectly.

Moss II, that starting area outside the castle is just wonderful. I am trying it sat on my bed and I'm literally right in the middle of it and it looks lovely. Kayak VR, just starting in the main area is awesome. Then when you see you can use the oar to push yourself away from the sides of the pool....lovely. Shame there is no haptic feedback for that though.

GT7....no idea what the hell is going on, as it has updated but it won't pick it up as being a VR game for some reason? But Kayak VR made me feel ever so slightly queazy so I'm nervous to try GT7.

I've owned the original Oculus and the PSVR and this is indeed quite the step up, not just in fidelity but of course actual polygon detail as well. Love it so far.

What’s it like comfort wise?

Well I completed 7 back in the day without any comfort settings on, but then I don't get motion sickness.

All I would say is put on as much comfort as you can - i.e. not smooth turning and take it easy as it'll do you in if you're not so good.

I have a CV1 Rift and a 1080 (and a 3080, but I'm not sure I've bothered with VR with it outside of ten minutes in flight simulator before the DLSS patch).

The headset is a lot better in pretty much every way except I can't plug it into a PC.

I have briefly played with a PSVR1.

GT7 is a genuine step up from the likes of Project Cars, because of the modelling. Also general VR menus etc being "not stupid".

Horizon was never going to wow me with scale, but I'll have to go back to it.

This probably doesn't help.

GT7 is flat screen literally until you are in a race, and there is a VR garage mode as well, but everything else, all menus etc. all presented in 2D.

You don't see anything outside of the flat screen until you drop into the car as part of a race.

Although it was probably actually shit, that 4 player mech game they had in the ground floor of the troc blew me away as a kid.

The standing up with a circle around you so you didn't wander and fall off they had in the upstairs bit wasn't nearly as good iirc.

I also had a chance to use the fx or whatever the vr set was that was around in the late 90s when I worked in Cyberia. Dark forces and qtest etc around that time but that thing was waaay heavier than this.

In fact it's a lot comfier and lighter than the psvr but I've no idea about the newer pc models and fuck meta anyway.
