PSVR2 - out now!

I know it’s only retail therapy but, perhaps sadly, it’s made me feel pretty happy having this to look forward to next year. It’s a lot of money but it does look very impressive and high end. I’ve been reading that apparently the Resi 4 remake is getting a PSVR2 version, that would be pant shittingly amazing if true.

Fingers crossed that we’ll get some PSVR1 games patched for the launch as well.

Tried to add a new card so updated everything and it refused to let me purchase - checked everything several times and then it said I'd made too many attempts and to try later - fuck that I'll wait until I can buy one from Amazon or the like.

Has this not been fully confirmed yet? It's the main reason I decided to buy one, just now.

Got the full set with Horizon and the docking station. Bit expensive, altogether. I sure hope I won't regret this purchase.

Just got mine.  This invite system is pretty damn good actually.

I’ll now decide whether I’m keeping it, but if PSVR2 has Resi4 remake in VR then not I only will that be amazing, but what better way to make the differences between this and quest clearer.

And I say that as someone who put the quest game in my GOTY list.

Last I read, it was definitely getting PSVR2 "content", not sure on the full game. Resi VIII will be though. :)

Yeah that and NMS are the two I’ll be playing straight away I think. I’ve never played Resi 8 so it’ll be brand new to me :)

Likewise, plus Horizon is now confirmed for launch, can't wait to see a Thunderjaw in VR!!

Now I just need to find a way of breaking the news to the wife, although I suppose I can do that nearer the time 😬it’s not even the money she’ll be concerned about, just “more of your junk” in the living room

Ha!, I have the same conversation except it's "with all your junk we are running out of oxygen in the house"

I've just ordered the headset on its own. Typically bundled games aren't actually any cheaper, so although I'm interested in Call of the Mountain I'll likely save money buying it separately.

The charging station seems both useful and overpriced, so I'm going to hold off and see how I get on without it. I am a bit wary that they'll be hard to find if I change my mind, but if that's the case there will probably be a decent third-party alternative.

Fully pre-ordered up here. Very excited if I'm honest.

I had an original Vive all ready to go on pre-order in 2016 then had the realisation that my daughter was due to arrive a month later and very, very sadly (but sensibly) cancelled it. Been waiting and waiting and waiting to jump back in and even had another kid in the meantime!

Tempted to go the high end PC route but sod it let's try this first. :)

This is impressive from Sony. Real gamers getting one and scalpers getting none!!

My time is 1pm, I’ve no intention of getting one but now I want to click that link to see if they still have stock by then.

Come on BJ, you know you want one….

2 questions:

1. How can I get in on this pre-order hype if I haven't had an invite?

2. Would it be completely and utterly stupid anyway seeing as I don't even own a PS5 yet :)

1. Go here and register for an invite.

2. Not really, you can always cancel at a later date if you change your mind, no money is taken until they are released.

I currently have a pair of varifocals for everyday use and a pair of distance glasses when I'm just watching the TV. Would I need a pair for reading for VR?

You'll probably want the same pair you wear for TV. Although the screens in the headset are physically close to your eyes, the lenses will likely make their actual focal distance about 1.5–2 meters away.

Yeah, I think vision is focused at a distance of ∼1.3m on the Quest headsets. I've noticed that I'm starting to struggle with my Vive which I've read has a focal distance between 1.75 - 2m and that ties in with my experience of longsightedness IRL. If you can find the specs for the PSVR2 it should give you an idea.

I'm just about to get a set of these if I can get a straight answer from my optician re my prescription https://vr-lens-lab.com/product/vive-pro2-vr-prescription-lenses/

Poor eyesight and VR is interesting - I am short sighted, and figured because the lenses are right in front of my eyes I wouldn’t need to wear glasses or contact lenses for the headset, but nope. Blurry as ever. It is indeed all about the focal lengths, your eyes are working as if all the VR objects were actually in physical space in front of you at natural distances. I suppose this is obvious to those who understand how eyes work.

I wonder if anyone will do storage cases for the headset and controllers like they do for Quest 2 🤔 it'd be good to have somewhere safe to keep it between uses.

There were third party cases for the original PSVR, I got a nice one on ebay that kept the head set safe so I bet there will be for this version.

Gonna sound stupid here, but does the headset need charging or is it powered by the USB lead?

Watched of few videos of the recent demos that were doing the rounds and the games look fantastic don’t they. Really looking forward to this now.
