Possibly, but it could also be that you're got far better reactions than me and you're noticing it. I think we'll mention that people are experiencing lag but it's not something we've noticed. The sound feels odd at times and I've noticed that Strider is really glitchy on the final stage, but I'm not sure if it's there and I've not noticed it as I've never tried to speedrun it before.

How do you feel about the arcade Strider in general for a first playthrough? I’m planning to go with it having only dabbled with it on console before. I’d be emulating it in either case anyway.

Also does anyone know if there are any games where you want to be using one region ROM over another?

It's fine. The only thing I did notice is a glitch on the fifth level that I've never noticed. On the other hand I've never tried speedrunning the game before so I've no idea if it was in the original game.

Ta. I was concerned it might be a bit “cheaper“ than the console port to convince me to use more credits but if that’s the worst of it then in I go.

This is now out on PC. Despite having other ways to play these titles I immediately bought the entire bundle in part because I want to encourage more of these. (I would love for the old Taito compilations to be made available.)

It's also out on PS4, I went for the PC version specifically because I wanted that arcade experience of being close to the screen. Is it as good as MAME or other options? Probably not but for a casual player who wants these games all tied up in a nice front end with little fuss it's good enough.

Bought this set and I’m currently practicing Bionic Commando.

Man, this game is cheap!

The enemy spawning literally has no rules, they can spawn in walls, in mid air and sometimes right on top of your head.

The final stage has a guaranteed kill zone. It forces you into a vertical tunnel, which you ascend and then it spawns enemies above your head which drop down on top you. The tunnel is literally the width of the enemy so there’s no where you can go. So far the only way I’ve found to get past is doing something on the section just below that causes the enemies to despawn, but I can’t get it 100%.

There’s 5 stages total and I’ve been practicing awkward sections using flash saves for a good few hours.

For a 1CC the best I’ve done is once I got stage 5 with no lives left. The paths I have through each level are pretty sound but depending on the erratic nature of the enemy spawning and movement, it’s really the luck of the draw.

I've played Bionic Commando, Commando and 1942 over the past couple of days using the rewind a bit and yeah Bionic Commando is flat out unfair. 1942 and Commando are difficult but I reckon someone younger than me could 1CC them. Even waves of bombers I initially thought were impossible without looping allow you just enough space to squeeze through.

It isn't well advertised on Steam (and you have to search for them by name), but you can also purchase the games individually now for something like £1.69 each. This is possible on all platforms, I think. Get yourself Progear on the cheap!

On the Switch at least you have to be the packs or the complete set – no individual titles except Ghosts & Goblins.

Looks like I'm wrong. Although I can't see them on the store yet.

No AvP is dissapointing, considering it was on the Home Arcade they released a couple of years back. Any word on whether these will be incorporated into the current 'game', which would make sense so probably not.

I think I read that it will be a new ‘game’.

I’m surprised that there is so much Darkstalkers when they have just releases a compilation with them on.

plus the street fighter Alpha’s are nice to have.

I’ve read that it will be a “new” game rather than an add on too, which is a bit of a shame, but will probably mean more sales or something

would have been good to have all the games in one place though.

I'm most excited by LED Storm, a game I loved on the C64 in 1989, not long before I got my Amiga. I always lusted after the Amiga version because it looked so much better but have still never played it – or the arcade original.

On a side note, when I asked my parents for LED Storm they misheard me and bought me Red Storm Rising instead. I didn't have that heart to tell them. Had to wait a while to ask for LED Storm again.

Indeed. Pretty much makes that compilation obsolete but for some hardcore Darkstalkers fans.

EDIT: Forgot about Red Earth though.
