I think the multiplayer is local only. There's definitely online leaderboards though, lots of scanline options, rewind facility and various other bits and bobs. Seen a few complaints about micro stutter and audio issues, so will check it out later.

Maybe I’m getting mixed up with the SFII collection for online play.

Hard to resist packs 2 and 3. Certainly a lot cheaper than buying that monstrous arcade stick in the shape of their logo

Capcom Arcade Stadium Pack 4: Arcade Death ('02 – 21)

Nothiiiiing

I picked up the "monstrous" stick from argos pre xmas and it looks so much better in real life. The emulation when i first got it was rubbish, but after the final update (1.6) its all working nicely and the missus and i  had a blast with it at christmas.

People should take a look at it, especially if it goes sub £100 that i got mine for. Also it uses its own emulation now and not FBA or whichever it was.

You ever played one?

I would fully agree with the above. I got mine as a Christmas pressie, and it's a really nice solid set up with a proper arcade feel. The emulation (after updating) is decent and there are various options for screen size etc, as well as online scoreboards.

As a bonus it has got my daughter playing Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Darkstalkers!

Back on topic, I really like the look of the CAS, and if it were on Xbox (my platform of choice) I reckon I would buy the whole lot. A very nice selection of titles but could have really done with Mercs included. I bloody love that game!

Edit: Just realised that Senjo no Okami II IS Mercs!!

Am I going mad or is there no way to buy these yet on the eshop? If you follow the shop link from games you don't have it just shows Ghost and Goblins listed.

Maybe you buy them through the game like with mobile in app purchases.

^ someone was saying you can't buy individual games yet, might be what's happening there. i got pack 3 from the eshop, not through the game, but not sure i could explain exctly where from mind.

I just bought the full bundle from the eShop main page. I feel obligated to support things like this regardless of line-up since I set up my Retropie but it looks pretty good to me and they have invested a decent amount of effort in the presentation with every game having a manual, definable controls, plenty of display options, leaderboards etc. Really quite impressed to be honest. My only gripe is that you don’t seem to be able to set certain games to open as specific the region versions - the JP/EN toggle is all or nothing.

Currently focusing on Strider and Progear and having a bloody good time.

I really like this setup, as has been mentioned there's plenty of options, display wise I go with Dash and I really like the look of it.

Spent some time yesterday Rewind Save Scumming through Ghosts n Goblins, after the first level I'm not so sure about this game anymore :D

Will pickup the packs later today

I really wish they'd release physical versions of this. I know I'm likely in the minority, but unless downloads are relatively inexpensive I just can't get behind supporting them. My perceived value just goes right out the window with download only. I don't mind paying extra either but at least give me the option. Anyway, it's a question for another thread I suppose. I flipping hate the way digital has replaced physical games though!

I’d definitely like a physical version - I remember getting some really good physical retro compilations back on the PS2 generation and the price was pretty low too.

Do we have any idea how soon the other formats will come? Would really like this but would lean towards PS4/5 due to trophies.  If it’s likely to be long then I’ll go Switch I think.

And it's worth noticing that because I've given them constant shit for ripping off the emulator for that one.

This time round they've done everything absolutely above board, so credit to whoever at Capcom listened to the concerns.

What happened with that ripping off the emulator thing in the end? I remember chat about it a while ago and someone had worked out they were using an unlicensed emu, right? Did they get away with it in the end?

This is a very nicely presented collection, and I'm tempted by it, but I wish they'd lavish the level of extra detail that the SNK collection opted for in terms of giving historical context, development details and extra artwork. Feels like that could be something they used the weird earned in-game currency for; unlockable images etc. instead of just being a weird aggregate leaderboard.

Im not sure how a physical release would work for this considering it’s supposed to be a virtual arcade. I’m sure the intention is to release further packs and individual games to download over time do even if there was a physical release you’d still have to download future games. Would make little sense really.

I hate this. Sooner or later I'm going to buy this, because I love retro games, mainly due to nostalgia. I very rarely play them. I'll play the whole compilation for about 12 minutes. I'll then put it away and never take it out again (or load it, in this case). Repeat when the next similar collection comes out.
