I can't believe that wave 1 has no actual new content at all.  Bonkers

 

The brief teaser for Side Order looks great, love the graphical style but it doesn't reveal anything about what it actually is!

It's £3 more than Octo expansion, so I don't think it's a rip-off unless Side Order will be a smaller campaign.

It all remains to be seen of course, but if Side Order is as big as the extra campaign in Octo expansion you're basically paying just a few squids for an extra lobby. Which wouldn't feel like a rip-off.

What's currently popular in Turf Wars? What am I going to have deal with in the Splatfest? It's been so long since I played anything but Clam Blitz… Everyone rocking Reef-lux 450s?

 

I have at least switched from a Splattershot Pro to a short-range, high coverage weapon to get my close-combat chops back up.

It's a rip off if you are only interested in the lobby. Plenty of player's just don't care about single player in Splatoon.

That was my take too - I thought that maybe they might be more details on Wave 1 when they announce the next season - but no, looking like it's just a lobby.

 

A few levels from the first game with the weapons and mission structure from S3 would have been a good fit.

Yeah, thinking about it, didn't they say in one of their Directs that Splatoon 3 was getting several big rounds of DLC - including the return of Pearl & Marina? Looks like they ran out of time or money, or they're simply relocating resources to get the successor to the Switch ready on time.

 

 

 

 

EDIT: Yes they did:

 

 

With this in mind the announced DLC is a bit of a letdown 😩

Bit of a weird question from someone who doesn’t play Splatoon (or even the Switch) -

 

My soon to be 6 year old son decided he wanted Splatoon 3 for his birthday to play on his sister’s Switch, I think this is probably based on school chat. We don’t subscribe to the online service and I know how he gets stressed out with challenging games (by which I mean anything that has a possibility of losing) but I didn’t want to be all gamer-dad and try to coach him on what to play, so I just stayed out of it. His aunt has asked us to buy the game digitally on her behalf, which we will do, and then today this thing arrived from her in the post.

 

It’s like a shot-gun shaped shell for putting joycons in. The package makes no explicit reference to Splatoon 3 although there are little visual hints of paint blobs and similar style characters. I didn’t spot any recognizable manufacturer name on there. We only have a Switch Lite, so no joycons.

 

Even if we got some, would it make this thing usable on a Lite? I have a feeling this was a very poorly judged purchase but if we can salvage any fun from it for him please let me know!

It would work with a Lite (if you’re willing to spend another £60 on Joy-cons that could go towards games instead) but you’d be too far from the screen for it to be any fun. In general it’s not going to offer a better experience. Splatoon has weapons like rollers, brushes and buckets.

 

In other news, white chocolate won the Splatfest and humanity is doomed.

Hah, whitewash for white choc. Big Man for the win!

 

I played only tricolour matches yesterday - got a badge for 10 Defender wins (seen one for 25 out there) which I was happy with. Noticeably harder to get a defender win as the day wore on.

There's another Big Run scheduled for March. Another they say? That means the first one totally passed me by, so much so I couldn't even tell you what a Big Run is. Must remember to check it out next month! Hope I didn't miss any exclusive gear the last time.

It's basically a special Salmon Run, held on the normal stages. The story being that the Salmonids are invading parts of the city and need to be fought off.

 

I don't recall if they mix up the stages - I only remember playing Wahoo World last time.

Sounded kind of familiar when I read this so I looked it up and discovered I wrongly visualised the pool stage. 😅 I think I participated in one Big Run because I'm pretty certain I scored one of those models.

 

I'd love a double catalog xp day before the end of the season.

 

By the way, I thought Chill Season would have snow or wintry themed levels (even the scenery) but it never came. Doubt the next one will be spring themed then.

There was a locker decoration for participation plus a locker decoration and a badge based on where you came in the first big run.  I only managed to get the "top 50%" ones which was the lowest tier.

No exclusive gear though

 

Not sure if the decorations and badges will be the same or different this time

Thanks. Reading into it I reckon I must have done a quick round on it. 

 

Lvl 88 on the catalog. Two today and I'll consider myself on the home straight. It's been quite the journey since Jan 30th! I've got to grips with the Anarchy modes (plateaued at A rank), gone over 100 hours with the game, feeling more comfortable in general with it though a long way from having it mastered. Good times but I can't let this happen again next season as it was close to driving me round the bend hadn't it been for the 1.2x multiplier over the Splatfest weekend. 😬

 

~56,000p short of polishing off wandercrust but since it doesn't seem to expire I'm not overly bothered. 

 

Maybe next season I'll get around to doing the one player mode! Haha, we'll see. At the moment I'm looking forward to just getting the daily first win bonus and playing some other games!
