I'd been toying with the idea of upgrading my rickety old 2017 Switch for an OLED and the Splatoon one was perfectly timed to push me over the edge. It's bloody lovely. The graphic print on the back has a different texture so combined with the much better materials vs my old Switch it's got a super nice tactility to it.

 

I err, also pre-ordered the Pro Controller even though my old one doesn't particularly need an upgrade at all :lol:

My Splatoon 2 pro controller is charged and ready for 09:00!

I’ve had two dodgy connections out of four. It’s even giving errors while matching. This is why I don’t like paying peanuts for Nintendo’s non-effort online offerings (I’d prefer to pay more and have it better/not P2P).

 

It seems wired is still the way to go.

Nice to have the OCD persons shooter back.

 

Let all the young uns run off to shoot each other in the face whilst I hang back methodically painting up as much of our end of the arena as possible.

 

This tactic may not be as effective in 3 way team battles though

Just got a draw so progress, only as 2 players disconnected - I was top scoring too….

 

This is crack! I haven’t played on the Switch much of late but this is getting bought for sure!

Well, that aged well. I am soooo out of practice. Two defeats out of 3.

 

The Aerospray MG with exploding inflatable shark is a good combo.

 

Did we all work out that B button is for the new moves? Hit while changing direction for a fast reverse; hold when on a wall to charge the climb boost move.

 

Friend codes working in this, or is it just the random mode?

I've only managed one completed match, first one it said too many people had quit out a few seconds after starting then another had 'a communications error has occurred'. Inevitable teething trouble with these things but really I don't even know why I'm playing the demo, it's not like this is going to be anything other than amazing.

 

Also, crap pic where I tried to show how the light satisfyingly inverts the printing from dark to light when it catches it right (sun hitting the left joy-con here):

There's a recent battles history in the lobby - hit L button to bring up the menu, then l/r to step through the tabs. Right on the d-pad to show your medals for the match. Last one we lost I had #1 Splatter, Turf Inker and Enemy Base inker. 

 

NOW I can blame it on the other losers I was paired up with!

9pm I think - but the game switches half-way to a new 3-way battle mode.
