Actually it appears that it does have split screen - so I am in…

Really, where did you see that? Splatoon has never had split screen before, the closest was a balloon popping minigame on the Wii U where one person could play on the gamepad, and I think that ran at 30 FPS.

there's no source for this and I haven't seen anyone else report on it

Yeah there's a load of totally made up stuff in there, e.g. a sprint button, open world single player, playable Callie and Marie etc. What an odd site.

I only found it by googling Splatoon 3 split screen - so maybe they just put popular features in the article to get hits.
I’m back out then…

My daughter really wants this day 1. Are the game collection the best for pre orders nowadays to get it on time?  I note they also have keyring as a pre order bonus.

Just realised Royal Mail are on strike the 8th and 9th so looks like it may have to be a go to the shops job to get it on day one.

Good. Go and have a McDonald’s after picking it up. That’s always been my tradition for new Nintendo game days.

Thanks for pointing this out. My pre-order is with Nintendo, they have a key ring and a gymbag for "Bonus Items with Purchase" and have always got stuff for me on day one in the past. I contacted them to see if I could pay more to get it delivered by courier and the person I did the live chat with said they weren't sure how they would be dispatched yet, as if it wasn't a given that it would be Royal Mail because of the strikes. There may be some hope they switch to DPD for them.

As to my question it turns I can't change the delivery method to existing orders and trying to order a new one only gives the free standard delivery option.

This sort of thing drives me crazy, many a sleepless night mulling over the best plan to play it day one and get those freebies coming up but I don't begrudge the postal workers striking one bit.

You can pre-order this from Currys, for £35.95

It is £44.99, use code SPLAT15 to take it down to £38.24.

Then use JamDoughnut to buy a Currys voucher code to buy it, and save a further 6%, bringing it down to £35.95.

Dont forget to use another forum members referral code also-

Nice one, just purchased using the Currys discount. Worth being aware that Splatoon 3 launch day coincides with a Royal Mail strike so you may not receive it on day one.

[edit] Currys might ship with DPD so potentially a non-issue for the above, but still a heads-up for anyone getting it delivered.

[edit 2] I should really have read further up the thread

Edit: full pre-order is up now.

There's also a separate 'pre-order' for download for the free Splatfest on the 27th? which also comes with a 7-day free Ninty online trial code if you need it. About half the size of the full software.

no one bought F-Zero GX, loads of people bought Splatoon 2. it's not a major mystery.

Well yeah, I was suggesting that Nintendo claiming the reason for not making another one was a lack of anything significantly new to add was not exactly truthful.

no I mean that they weren't exactly on a winning formula with the series, so to them people going 'why don't you make more F-Zero games' is like saying 'why don't you burn this pile of money?'

Spoiler

still think F-Zero 99 is a no brainer
