Splatoon 3 - it's here!

Even the triples I have managed have been sequential and not a single strike; roll from one kill onto the next by the power of ninja squid gear or Crab Tank.

Best for multis has been the Reefslider, but I tend not to use mains with that as a sub, now - Crab Tank for me. Taken out a bank of defenders in Clam Blitz, but one at a time.

I've basically reverted to my S2 mains of Splattershot Pro and Splash-o-matic, both of which have tank specials.

I've managed both single shot and sequential triples.  Single shot would have been with the reef slider, just need all 4 opponents to be closer together one time! 😆

I'd expect that something like the booyah bomb directly on the tower in tower control would probably be the easiest though still not easy way to get a single shot quad

Anyone else getting a lot of communication errors? Trying to suss whether my wifi is being a dick or not.

No, it's been fine for me today and was yesterday too.

I do get comms errors from time to time but no obvious change in frequency.

It's slaughter.

At this point I'm just hoping to grind out the catalogue before it expires.

Hmm, a sure sign that I've been playing this too much is that i'm closing in on catalogue level 250! 🤣

Can't wait for the proper new season one to start in December as after finishing the first one at 100 you just get a mystery box every 10 additional levels and it almost always only has a crap item in it like 10,000 credits.  I wish it regularly gave out tableturf card packs 😢

Got my Aerospray up to 5* 😎 Takes an absolute age to get the 1.16million p coverage

Thought i'd switch to a different but similar main gun afterwards and have gone with the sploosh-o-matic/ curling bomb/ ultra stamp.  Got to say that the ultra stamp is great fun, already got a triple splat with it! 😀

That's great going. 👏 I don't know where the experience would come from to be on lvl 250! :o I've the catalogue up into the 70s now and beyond playing enough for that first win of the day bonus, it's taking me a while to grind out even two levels per day (which my goal is now to try and get it finished, haha).

Will the shops continue to cycle through the same gear after the catalogue changes or does that stuff expire too?

This evening in the Splatfest I had a go on pro mode and actually got a few wins on the board. I honestly think yesterday I was in one winning team, could only have been two at most. On the bright side I got Wandercrust finished...! Being part of some matches with multipliers skyrocketed my clout and got me an item which I didn't catch the name of. Ended up with champion status (!) in pro mode then spent my shells and scrubbed the t-shirt.

Swapped over to the Aerospray fairly recently as I read it's noob friendly. 🤷‍♂️ I've been doing a good job at being the exception that proves the rule with it. 😂

Got 21 sea shells for Ruler+2 on a losing team which is barely different from getting 24 on winning team last time.  Used them to upgrade my top to 5*

Your catalogue levels up through salmon run as well as through turf war and anarchy battles so that's another way to progress it if you dont already regularly play salmon run.  Your first 3 wave clear triggers the daily first win bonus too.

You can get decent amounts of credits in salmon run too which helps with buying everything from the shop

Don't know, I expect they will add more stuff over time, not sure if that means older stuff won't appear any more though.

It does have a rep as being a noob gun but I think that might just be as its very good at getting coverage so can be used by players who want to mostly just paint the base (and usually lose the team the match by not pushing forwards 😝)

It is short range and "sprays" everywhere so even when you are aiming straight at an opponent you will miss with quite a lot of your ink.  As a result you will typically lose a lot of face-to-face duels especially if the opponent has something that shoots straighter or further.   To counter this you need to try and approach enemies from the side or behind if possible or get really up close with them so that more of the spray still hits.

Typically you'll be aiming for a bit more coverage but likely a few less splats as an aerospray player.

Nothing quite like winning your last match at the stroke of midnight and getting to 984/999. I am far more annoyed about this than I ever should be!

To be fair I had an awful record (13-25) so definitely could have made the difference anywhere in there by simply being less shit.

Sucks - although I didn't really enjoy this Splatfest that much. Got to Ruler and shut down, and even forgot to ask Murch to remove the chunks from the Tee. Just didn't engage with Pro mode - not being able to stick with the same people on a successful run is less fun.

There is still quite a restricted set of gear - no special kit was released for this 'Fest, for example. Could have done some Pokemon-inspired hats. I'm sure they are planning some additional updates.

I wanted to choose Water but my daughter chose Grass for me by accident as she logged in under my profile and didn't realise. Curses!

I had a good run yesterday including some 10x matches.  Biggest win was 78% - that was a slaughter as they had a team of 4 x snipers.  I did OK but early in the afternoon, there were so many communication errors.

I went with Big Man, so was water, and got my 24 shells today. Had no 3-way matches - maybe because I played Pro?

Had one game with comms errors where it ended up being just me and a paintbrush player in Yahoo World. Ever tried chasing a single paintbrush player across an entire map?

Played Salmon Run at [lunchtime] and it was a nightmare - comms errors every match.

78% is nothing!

84% win

89.6% win

(have been on the wrong end with a few really big defeats too)

On Sunday there were 3 types of splatfest available in the lobby and you only get tricolour matches in one of them and even then only some of your matches will be tricolour.  If you are in the Pro lobby then yes, that's 100% turfwar

  1. Turfwar (open) - available Saturday and Sunday - turfwar only
  2. Turfwar (Pro) - available Saturday and Sunday - turfwar only
  3. Tricolour - available Sunday - turfwar and tricolour mix, apparently tends to be more tricolour when you are a defender (water) than an attacker (fire, grass)

Whatever fixes they applied since the previous splatfest they did at least partially work as this time I got a reasonable number of actual tricolour matches when I was in that lobby, maybe about 20-25% of them.

They need to get working on more fixes for the comms errors though!!

There was a period late yesterday afternoon when I was getting loads of comms errors and 'a player has disconnected early in the match' messages too.  Including 2 comms errors at the actual end of the match, both victories that turned into draws 🤬

Took a break for a few hours and it was better again later in the evening

Can't remember that far back for sure but dont think I had many issues in Salmon Run early on.

Perhaps its the time of day I play it but I seem to get far fewer comms type issues in general in Salmon Run as compared to turfwar.  Get the odd comms error in between matches while waiting in Grizzco but almost never any issues within the runs themselves

Nice. Looks like a new long range shooter, a super wide roller, and a multi-shot sniper rifle. One brand new level and Flounder Heights coming back. And a Splattershot with Splat Bombs, so I can finally hang up my trusty old Jr. Big Run at last too. The new shooter looks like an old Super Soaker, with the pump on the front, so I wonder if it has some sort of charge ability? Might be a variation on the Squeezer?

Option 3 wasn't open to Team Water as we were winning. So for us it was:

Saturday

1. Open - Turfwar only

2. Pro - Turfwar only

Sunday

1. Open - Turfwar and Tricolor

2. Pro - Turfwar only

Im a huge splatoon fan, but interestingly so is my little niece who has very serious autism. She is mostly non verbal but for some reason splatoon has really brought her out of herself which I think is wonderful. There must be some element in the character designs that really attracts her.

Here is hoping they do more merchandise for this one as it would be fantastic to be able to get her stuff for xmas

Did a decent bit of Salmon Run in Sept and Oct but only the one session on it this month to grind out a few of the prizes.
Yeah, I do see this game as a grind. I'm hoping to get into it eventually but for now my goal is get in, get the temporary unlocks, and get out. Hmm. 🙊

Oy. I push forward and paint as I go, get splatted back to the start area then go again. Rinse, wash, repeat for the 3 min bursts. More often than not I'm one of the top two on the team but my actual win-loss ratio is getting embarrassing. I just picked up where I left off in the Splatfest this evening-- now sitting on 17-27. It's pure pwnage but at least it's fun... right?? 😬 I got a few splats with the aerospray thanks to your tips (kinda... I just went face to face but up close to minimise the spread) and noticed I'd a jumper with the invisi-swim ability so I increased the slots on it and put it on as I've seen people bring that up as a bit of a holy-grail. It may well have benefitted me personally but didn't really help the team overall. 😅

Met my quota of two catalogue levels, though it took about an hour. Are the other modes faster? I didn't think Salmon Run was putting much exp in the bank so that's why I just faff about in Turf Wars now.

Looking forward to whatever they add in Chill Season. ☃️
