Say, is Lil' Judd in cahoots with Mr Grizz?

After you've beaten Mr Grizz, the little feline gets an earpiece implying that maybe he's the voice on the radio?

It's always the cute little fluffy ones you have to watch out for! 😝

I’ve now lost sixteen S-rank promotion battles. The trend seems to be failure at a promotion attempt, do another one or two Series sets, and then try again. The last attempt saw me win for the first time, I won twice actually, 2/3.

To he honest the S-rank players are still, both literally and figuratively, a whole league ahead of me when it comes to the game. I can’t carry my team despite holding at the very least a 2-1 kills/deaths ratio. I’m doing something wrong and I can’t quite put my finger on it. I don’t want to be in S-rank if it means I’m going to be in -1400 points hell again. Rainmaker is my worst game mode, however if it wasn’t for me and my reckless/mindless suicide pushing we wouldn’t have won those two games.

What I sometimes like to do with the Rainmaker when I’m not playing too seriously is to get myself behind a little bit of cover before charging a shot directly into the air in the direction I’m wanting to go in. Once that gets fired off I charge and release another shot in front of me. Both shots land at exactly the same time, which not only looks absolutely devastating, but also creates a huge chunk of path for me to speed down.

Salmon Run has been an absolute fucking nightmare this evening. Glow flies, connection errors, and flat out numbskull team mates have seen me demoted from Profreshional +3 down to Profreshional Part-Timer. I’m on 600pts after 90 minutes. What a total waste.

I can’t even tell the difference in difficulty anymore, just the reduced eggs quota, which isn’t making any difference whatsoever.

Glow fly waves are indeed a right pain 🤬.

I've been getting a lot of disconnects in Turf War today but fortunately Salmon Run has been okay

Just looked at my stats for the current run, the app is so useful for that!

Anyway, took me 11 rounds to get just over 1200 pts, 4 clears and 7 defeats 1 of which was a disconnection.

Annoyingly those 4 clears were in the first 5 runs so could have completed it quicker if that streak had continued.

Sorry, I know this is of no help! 😆

As an aside, my favourite comedy way to die in this has got to be when you are at the top of a fish stick and a Maws appears at the top of the stick too.  Absolute top tier trolling that Nintendo, beautiful! 😂😂😂

Oh, hell, yes. Gobsmacked when that first happened to me. You have zero warning, zero chance.

Had another comedy one yesterday.  Jumped onboard a slammin' lid and killed it only to be dropped into the water and die 🤣

To be fair it was very near to the edge of the stage during a high tide but still!

Yeah, that, too. And a lot of getting trapped in awkward angles.

Everything seems slightly tougher. Salmonids are slightly quicker; missiles seek faster so the old 'just in time' moves are off; the beams from the tall guys are more aggressive and find you quicker.

It's similar, but turned up to 11.

Yeah, across both Salmon Run and battle modes the Tenta Missiles' sign-posting has been massively reduced compared to Splatoon 2, and sometimes it doesn't feel consistent at that. Maybe it's a range thing, the closer you are the less time you get to shift out of the way?

Today's the first day since the game launched that I've not been caning it. I've not even had it on because I've been working in the garden. It feels weird.

Trying to mix it up a little in 3 and try out new weapons - auditioning a Goo Tuber at the moment. I'm finding that Charger weapons are surprisingly hard to use well.

The idea is to use it with a Ninja squid main - it holds a full charge for 5s while submerged, so there should be plenty of scope for sneak attacks.

It has pretty good ink coverage when strafing, but coordinating a charge, sneak, and accurate splat is tricky. I think I prefer faster, nimbler shooters.

Outside of that, I'm using an N-Zap more for the first time. My usual Splattershot Pro is seriously missing a killer secondary without suction bombs.

What weapons and gear are you using this time? Are you sticking to just one loadout?

I'm on Tri-Stringer:

I've mentioned a few times why - it's very versatile in its usage and it does have a little bit of a learning curve but not much. If you try and use it as solely a long range or mid range you aren't getting the best out of it. It has 6 fire modes and you should be using all three main variations (double for horizontal and vertical output) every match:

Burst mode for arc coverage - great for defending in Clam Blitz and cutting off flank attacks

Single charge - pretty much all of the time! - this is like raining down grenades in a general area over and over again - great for holding ground and stopping advances in Tower Control/Rainmaker

Double charge - sniper mode but range is not as good - I use fairly sparingly if I am in a 1v1 situation taking out another mid/long range

Gear is Ink Saver, Last Ditch Effort, Run Speed - I am experimenting with Punisher and Thermal Ink too but generally I feel I need the Ink and mobility. Most matches I have the highest ink output from any player.

Constant active attacks and generally annoying the opponent is my main objective! 😁

As above the reef-lux stringer is quite fun and great at ink coverage but I was losing out to much in 1-on-1s with it an my splat count was down at a handful a match so not sure I'll be using it much more.

Aerospray will always be my go-to as its awesome at coverage and suits my spray 'n pray approach to gunfights! 😂

Bloblobber I've been using a lot on splatzones and tower control

Edit: I do wish there was an Aerospray loadout with a decent secondary, the fizzy bomb is pants

Am I correct in thinking there are no damage buffs now? So the sub-weapon up no longer increases the damage of splat grenades, bombs or sticky bombs, just the range?

Edit - looks like sub-weapon buffs never boosted grenade/bomb damage anyway, just travel speed and therefore range.

I’m enjoying this - but the experience is soured by the fact that this could have just been an update to Splatoon 2.

The narrow scope of the single player and the lack of any new multiplayer modes (yet) is really disappointing.
