I don’t get any value out of The NES/SNES stuff (or the N64 stuff with my expansion pack), and paying for a shaky P2P connection is a piss take so I’ll be protesting with my wallet.

Be careful with your cloud saves when voting with your wallet. They get wiped after a period if you don’t renew. Even my accrued play time is all messed up.

This isn’t a problem if you keep your Switch from being sold or lost/stolen.

My switch and my steam deck are the first things I’d grab in a fire. I’d save them before my own children.

I don’t have any children so that’s not as bad as it sounds but probably speaks volumes on my suitability for fatherhood.

I’m also back up to 500pts after taking advantage of a Hammerhead Bridge Splat Zones Series. I’m also being cheeky on Sturgeon Shipyard now as well, so that map isn’t as daunting. The flank can take several seconds however, so it has to be made worthwhile. It’s definitely the better option over spraying ink up and over that slope without a clear view.

I’ve done something to upset Nintendo.

That moment when you look at the other names and know you’re being punished for something. These games go exactly as I expect them to. I don’t even bother aiming my weapons at them anymore, I just ink as much coverage for my team mates as I can and pray for it to be over as soon as possible.

Oh, and spam specials every ten seconds. To beat Japanese players, you have to become a Japanese player.

Now I see how the drop-in works, too.

Or not. Haven't managed to drop into a single 'Mukker's game, yet.

Still, had some fun Clam Blitz games despite everyone else being a Japanese player. And my being splatted a lot.

Some fantastic games tonight. I was right, it was always my teammates. Seems to have been a sea change since B+. Brushes still not realising I can hold my own at close range and watching the rush players come up short without any mid or long range back up has been fun. Three rank up attempts went:

0-3

1-3

1-3

The last loss was very close though. My new hated weapon are the Heavy Splatlings - depending on the map/objective they can be a nightmare to deal with.

I’m beginning to upgrade against the S+ Japanese crowd. Clam Blitz on Mahi-Mahi and Museum last night consisted of starting an offensive at one side with a special, waiting for my team to join in before sneaking to the other inlet for a flank which worked every time, repeatedly, against every team. S+ and they never check the map. 🤦‍♂️

They’re like robots. They don’t deviate.

Even some T-1000 player with a brush couldn’t handle it, despite him seemingly having range that covered half the map. It’s so annoying, almost like Nintendo giving them a home turf advantage.

I do think being able to jump with the ball a little bit broken. As long as a team member can push to the basket and you jump to him with a ball just before he dies you can spam the throw button as you super-jump in and score every single time. It’s unstoppable.

I disagree - that's a perfectly valid tactic. It's not a given that any teammate can push to the basket (paintbrush users notwithstanding), and your moron teammates have to realise their chance.

It's one reason you leave your free ball alone after the bad guys score; so your backstop can pick it up and SJ in when you pick up sufficient clams to score again. Ace in the hole.

Number of times I have snuck to within spitting distance of the target and spammed 'This way' while being ignored by the ball carrier makes me think that not too many people think of this.

I'm not so sure. Being able to shark near the basket close enough to let someone with a ball jump in and score seems massively exploitable. It'd be interesting to find out how much more effective it'd be with a pair of friends doing it against randoms.

I was ready for throwing in the towel again last night. The amount of people running REEF-LUX 450s with Special Charge Up is absolutely sickening. Splat Zones was by all means unplayable due to a never-ending barrage of Tenta Missiles which commence even before you get a chance to reach the zone at all. One game had three of them on one team. I even gave up trying to ink the zone and instead opted for hunting the fuckers down purely out of frustration, but then they just super-jump away once they see you coming close, and on top of that you're leaving them your team's ink in their base for even faster farm. There aren't even any attempts on their part to ink the zone at all, they just hang back and farm Tenta Missiles non-stop. After two full hours of Splat Zones I came away with the same amount of points I started with.

It’s a wonderfully versatile bit of kit too. Curling bombs are always ideal for flanking a back line. I enjoy getting aggressive with it. It should be an in-your-face weapon like the Sploosh. Giving it Tenta Missiles was a mistake. The special should have been something similar to the Sploosh’s Ultra Stamp. There’s bound to be a major rebalancing for it in the next patch.

Its tough when the tide is high on wave 3 and you quickly get the area around the egg basket totally filling up with multiple bosses plus incoming from others that are around the edge too.  It's not so bad with the tide normal or low but have only completed all 3 waves a couple of times this evening.

It's not as bad a the recent ? ? ? ? weapons Run, had a few on that where it gave us terrible weapons or no variety.  Had 2 and even 3 players getting stringer at once several times on that

Is it me, or is Salmon Run much tougher this time around?

More bosses, more frequently; I've had loads of games where each round ends up completely green because we can't keep up with the boss ink.

It is. Max Hazard Level in 2 ended up rarely being a problem for me or my random team mates but I haven’t seen one in this yet and have had much worse struggles. According to the app, the highest hazard level I’ve encountered is 186% and that was busier than a maximum run in 2.

The weapon comps haven’t helped so far. There was one about a week ago that made light work of everything including Cohozuna but everything else has been tough.

At the other end of the scale, the new Tornado wave which is basically you and a box of eggs is incredibly boring and free of threat. I used to be grateful when the mothership appeared but this is a whole new level of free pass.

It’s had some truly excellent QoL additions but in terms of the stages and basic levels of fun, it’s currently not as enjoyable as it was in the last game.

The thing I don’t like about Salmon Run, and matchmaking in general, is that once you’ve finally found a decent bunch of players the maps get updated (which has nothing to do with Salmon Run) and it destroys your team.

The online functionality is just so constantly frustrating.

Isn't that just pure Salmon Run? 🤣

I've still not managed to get above ProFreshional +2 rank, end up rotating onto a difficult map/ weapon selection and then drop 2 or 3 ranks dying lots grinding out 1200p for the super bonuses 😂

Yeah, that new wave is way too easy only issue early on was if people didn't effectively form a chain of throwing the eggs back to the basket.  With the mothership one I had a recent match where nobody else on my crew seemed to know to shoot the mothership when it comes down to hoover eggs from the basket 😡, I had a really short range weapon so could only just about hit it which didn't help! 😢.

Also loads of players still don't seem to know how to get the new Slammin Lid boss to drop down.  I'm forever having to deal with them if they are on a map where the level itself doesn't allow easy access to the salmonid on top.

I think I am enjoying it more.  One of the main reasons being that it is available the whole time.  In S2 I'd get really grumpy if it wasn't available when I wanted a go or if it had 3 or more weapons I didn't like.  Much better now and not so impactful if its a bad set as there will be a new Run coming soon.  It's also good that there are a few new bosses as well as King Salmonid.  Hopefully there will be a couple more Kings coming in the ongoing updates to keep if fresh.  I do think it could do with some new stages though.

Worst bit in S3 is still that they totally nerfed the awesome Grizzco theme tune! 😝

Yeah, I've had that a few times, it is really annoying 🤬

At least we don't have the mandatory, unskippable splatcast every 2 hours any more! 😂

You have inspired me to give that a go! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Tried it out last night in turf war and the coverage you get with the reef-lux stringer is really good, am not yet good with getting splats with it though, only getting a handful each match.  Will give it a go in splat zones when I get the chance. 😆

42pts away from another promotion attempt. Series was on my side last night.

Wish me luck!

I need to do more series, spending 100 points to enter one in the A ranks is a lot and putting me off cos of the disconnections

That’s what’s been holding me back. I got another error on my first Series during my final battle last night which lost me an absolute ton of points I should have been owed for (at least) four wins. I totally lost my rag and decided to go all in in order to reclaim those points, and ended up doing pretty well over the whole two hours of Splat Zones.

I'm pretty fed up with ranked. I'm stuck at B-, on 106 points, after being S+ rank in Splatzones and A+ in Tower Control in Splatoon 2.

Nearly every match is hopelessly one-sided. Last night with my random Open mode teams we won 2 and lost 10. I find a new team when it's clear the pattern will continue but I'm not sure what else I can do :(

Wait, what? Murch will replace Main abilities on gear, now? OK, it costs 45 chunks, but that's awesome. I don't have to find someone who has the Splatnet variant in the plaza then order their gear, now.

And with regard to Ranked - I was up to S+7 or 8 in 2, but at the end dropped right back to A+/S ranks - and those games were much more enjoyable. Less frenzy.

@DC Lemon - weren't you X Ranked at one point?
