Formula One 2021 - DRAMA - #Michael Messy

Good race, Happy for Mclaren 1-2. Bottas used up all his overtakes and got stuck behind Perez but still a good drive to get on the podium.

Lewis/Max drama carries on to the next race. Racing incident to me.

if hamilton backed out, that's the championship over. he can't afford to just give verstappen space when he's ahead.

That line only works when Hamilton is ahead in the championship.

There were plenty of laps left for Hamilton to take advantage of a warmer, and theoretically faster tyre.

I just don’t think Max would have let Lewis pass without driving into him, whether it was there or a later attempt. It’s just the way he approaches races.

Well, we'll never know as Lewis drove into Max first? ;)

I like seeing Max making sure Lewis was ok before walking off.

Yeah, like Lewis let Max safely get out of his car before engaging reverse and trying to pull out from under the car Max was trying to get out of?

And how was he supposed to know that given Max had parked and revved his car on top of him?

Remember how concerned Lewis was after shunting Max into the wall at 200mph at Silverstone?

You mean after he had been told that Max had got out of his car on his own? I'm sure if he had ended up next to him he would not have walked off without even checking.

Sky are basically blaming Hamilton and I don't think I agree.

It's a crash caused purely because both drivers considered a crash better than finishing behind the other, and they're both right.

You could argue Lewis shouldn't initiate the move on that basis but again, it's his best chance to not lose points and ultimately, he didn't.

It's marginally better for Verstappen of course, he's ahead with fewer races to go but it's still a situation 1 race can change.

I think if Max isn't absolutely furious after that pit stop, that collision doesn't happen.

I considered that and I think if he'd had that incident with literally any other driver in the race I'd agree.

Given it's his direct rival... not so convinced.
