Holy shit the last few laps of Brazil 2008!!!:omg:

I love that I spent the entire season thinking Massa had won because his face was on the icon. Lol.

I LOVE THIS SPORT.

Heart breaking stuff.

Probably the most notable thing Timo Glock ever did…

I was genuinely gutted for Massa. He really deserved a championship at some point. But I guess surviving that injury he has coming was enough.

I saw that in a sports bar in New York, with me and my brother the only Lewis fans in a venue otherwise filled with Italian-Americans in Ferrari shirts. TV and movies had taught us the demographic of that population comprises solely of either mafia or Joey Tribiani, so we decided best to celebrate quietly.

All this Massa talk has sparked a debate in my head. Was Massa a bigger chumpion than Barrichello? I mean Rubens has at least gone on to bag a few wins in the Brazilian stock car championship, Massa got a podium in formula E.....

It's tricky at the just below top.

It's probably harder to get a podium in F E than win in a regional silhouette series.

Which is fine until you find out Massa has been in the same series and has done precisely 'fuck all'

Massa never really recovered from being smacked in the face by a spring.

2008 was a great year, but remember the FIA was at its height of buggering around with the results phase.  Lewis getting the penalty in Spa for not letting Kimi back in front "enough" is still the stupidest thing i've ever seen

Even with his injury I don’t think he ever recovered from ‘Fernando is faster than you’. Same with ‘Valterri, it’s James’ as soon as that type of radio message is broadcast you’re done when it comes to winning with that team.

I do think things would have been a lot different for him if Glock had not happened. He had a fair turn of speed at times did old FM.

Although didn’t he effectively end up getting the best case scenario? I seem to remember Glock was only ahead of Hamilton because he alone decided not to pit for wets and try gambling on trying to skate around on slicks (which I think did still gain him at least one place), and this way Massa at least got a “we woz robbed” sympathy card to play. If Glock had pitted like everyone else it would simply have been “Hamilton did it!”.

of course I may have remembered that very wrongly!

Mansells thoughts are "back in my day blah blah blah"

Yes they could have ran more wing, if the regulations allowed them to change the rear wing on the day (they don't)

They could have ran a higher ride height

They could have changed the camber

Again, though as far as I'm aware, those things cannot be touched once FP3 is finished, or is it Qualifying?

Which would have raised questions regarding the legality of Perez's car?

And yes, maybe he's right in that drivers need to learn to respect corners more, but we should always be working to make circuits as safe as possible.

I got into a "conversation" with a guy on Twitter (I know, I know) in the aftermath of Lando's crash, his attitude was "Motorsport is inherently dangerous" and yes, he's write, but by that same logic we might as well send them out in cigar shaped fibre glass shells with the engine bolted to the back and the driver sat on the fuel tank whilst wearing cotton overalls and a leather helmet.

Yes, motorsport is dangerous, but that was never going to be a race. That would just have been a waiting game to see who went off first. And I doubt nigel even in his pomp would have lasted more than a few laps..

He managed to crash on a bright sunny day at Suzuka and break his back after all.

You'd think Nige would know better, he survived as did a few others, some fairly large shunts. More through luck than judgement.

Where does one start. His aresholing of that mondeo in a touring car race is well worth digging out. More so as he can see the concrete wall heading in his general direction, and takes avoiding action before the impact. The indycar crash at phoenix that fucked his back again at something approaching 200mph. Guglemins leyton house being launched over his ferrari.

There must be a highlight reel somewhere?

There's a shock. The cars are bigger,  heavier, faster and kick up a lot more spray than they did in Mansell's day and along with the constant rain the low cloud cover and lack of wind meant that spray just hung between the trees with nowhere to go. I don't think they would have raced in those conditions in Mansell's day either.

Stroll got a 10 second time penalty for changing his rear wing and Perez got a pitlane start for his repairs. If all the teams made same changes they'd in theory all get the same penalty and the starting grid would remain unchanged at breaking Parc Ferme rules would be irrelevant.

Well, yes. That would also be quite amusing, seeing all the teams making whatever adjustments they wanted and going to the FIA "what are you gonna do about it?".

Kind of a pity that Hamilton spoiled things by sitting alone on the grid in Hungary now.
