no real insight from Masi tbh

Except for where he explains his reasoning for how he managed the race today and that all the teams were consulted and had their input to those decisions.

You did say that the race director had no insight as to why the race director made the decisions he did, yes, you're right.

because he doesn't know what he's doing, yes I've been quite vocal on that.

In that video, Masi says theres no possibility that the race could have been postponed till tomorrow.

Is that really true, or is that him trying to save face? I mean yeah, sure there's no guarantee the weather would have been any better and alot of the fans wouldnt have been able to attend, but is there any thing in the rules or in agreements with the circuit and local authorities that would have meant they couldn't hold the race at all tomorrow?

does anyone know why lando was starting further back? they didn't seem to mention why on the c4 highlights, was it penalty due to parts changes when repairing the car?

Gearbox change after his big crash in qualifying, it was a surprise to see him that far up the grid considering the rebuild needed.

PHC posted this on Twitter. Deffo worth a look. Times past... and a great battle.

We need the monsoon tyres back IMO. Proper water lifters. In most cases that would do it but yesterday was the anomaly since it just never stopped raining into the evening and beyond.

Car in 1st becomes the safety car. Drive to a mandated time per sector, monsoon tyres till it’s cleared enough to do a standing start.

F1 would never take risks like that again, too much spray difficult for Massa/Kubica to see. The sensible thing to have done would be to cancel the race. No points awarded and give fans a refund but like Hamilton said 'Money Talks'

As @gospvgsaid, would never  happen. There were parts of that clip where the spray complete obscures the rain light and Fuji is much more open than Spa. There are parts of Spa where the trees would make a spray tunnel basically and when you're already worried about the top of Radillion, it's far too easy to have someone go off and everyone pile into him because they just can't see through the spray. Short of covering all the cars with LEDS so you could see the outline through the spray - and not sure why if that tech exists it wouldn't be in the rainlights as well - you can't guarantee that drivers can see all hazards on track or just off the racing line.

I’d be happier with a cancelled race and that formally allowing points to be awarded based on qualifying (even if that follows a few “at least we had a go at seeing if it could be run” non-race parade laps), rather than this “technically we had a race” nonsense.

Yeah, rather than do 2 laps behind a safety car so they can go "What? According to the regs we had a race, so we don't have to refund any sponsors or spectators!", they should just cancel the race and have a points system based on the qualifying result.

I came across this video yesterday which I hadn’t seen before. It’s a fascinating fly on the wall look at how the TV director works and chooses what shots and replays to broadcast during a race. You’ll have to click through to YouTube to watch it.

It's nice that. Every time I see Vettel slide off into that wall it strikes me that he makes no attempt to stick it in reverse and try to get out. Maybe he saw the suspension break or something but if not, I'm surprised he didn't try to see if he was beached or not.

Well, it looks like Russell and Williams really enjoyed that at least. Clever tweaking of the car by them.

When’s the last time there were two brits on the podium?

I’m off to watch some actual racing now. Up to China 2008. AND NO, I DON’T KNOW ANY OF THE RESULTS.
