The problem is that the ‘result’ today will absolutely change the finishing order of the championship for someone. So this year’s championship is now tainted by this bullshit.

The race should have been abandoned.

Masi is fucking awful, he doesn't know what to do and can't seem to make any decisions. I know he suddenly had to take over but it's been years now.

We got to the right conclusion eventually but how we got there was a farce. Either start the race behind the safety car and see if the cars going round could make a line or call it off. Waiting hours when the rain was never going to stop was just insulting to the fans and the teams. And it fucked with everyone's plans as it all ran over - the last thing you want to do during covid is fuck around with the logistics.

Happy for Russell but just abysmal management of the race.

Yup, I think it’s time to go.

He should've gone when he started Q2 in Turkey with the recovery vehicle still on the circuit. That was unforgiveable. All the other shit is incompetence that adds up but that should've seen him resign immediately.

It isn't tainted. Not if you're looking for an excuse as to how it affects anyone's finishing order at any rate. It may have been a complete fiasco but the rules cover situations such as this, so as disappointing as it is for all concerned, the points are legitimate. It's a race weekend and on this weekend, qualifying was even more important than usual.

They should have a good chance of appealing this I'd have thought, as no-one, including Massey it seems, knew whether the race had started or not when the wing was changed.

I've fixed the tables in the original post to match @T Pot formatting as best I can, using some new table editing tools I added to CKEditor. Supporters/Donors and mods can leverage the control to edit these tables in the OP without the need to fart around with the underlying HTML now.

Sorry it didn't quite match the original formatting but it's Sunday and I'm half asleep.

When they sent the cars back out they 100% knew no actual racing would take place. It was done purely to trigger the rules everyone is talking about. By the letter of the law the can do this but it is cynical in the extreme and to me if it does change the championship order it has tainted the championship.

Half points for a race that has been halted mid race is understandable. Half points on a technicality with no racing is not.

I very much hope that come the end of the season it doesn’t actually make any difference to anyone’s championship position. But it almost certainly will for someone and to me that is not right. Alfa for example now have zero chance of overtaking Williams.
