Happy games to pass the time

I'm getting ready to drop a month's worth of mortgage on a load of Nintendo 1st party Switch games that I haven't played.

Marios Odyssey & Party

Luigi's Mansion

Some Kirby stuff probably

Anything colourful and fun to play with the family

Any other recommendations from Nintendo fans welcome.

@Uncle Mike Not sure if it’s your bag, but this Immortals Fenix Rising is alright, a nice colourful world and pretty easy going. It’s generic as fuck but quite charming in a “let’s do Assassins Creed Breath of the Odyssey” kind of way. It’s cheered me up after the nagging disappointment of CP77

Shadow of the Colossus and Everybody’s Golf are both really good for chilling out and relaxing with. They both look and play brilliantly on PS5 too! They’ve been my go to games recently with all the shit that’s going on.

Abzu is another good one that is great on PS5. Looks incredible and it’s really relaxing. Journey as well, which has already been mentioned.

From the little I've played of it, Immortals Fenyx Rising is perfect for this situation. It's very colourful and pretty, lots of puzzles, has a sort of dreamworks animation tone and atmosphere. Maybe it gets really hard later but it's a perfect 2020 Christmas game for me.

Yakuza LaD is a brilliant game, very funny but the main story is kind of gritty at times and the villain is almost like a JRPG Dominic Cummings, so maybe not ideal.

Whenever I feel down get the Nintendo Wii out. Fun games and cheaper than a Switch! Been playing Super Paper Mario and Mario Galaxy recently and they are awesome....

My challenge this Xmas is to beat my other halfs score on Wii Fit Ski Jump.... Not sure how she managed over 300m bah....

Find a lot of games these days too damn depressing to be honest. Just seemingly mindless kill kill kill.... I was going to pick up Cyberpunk to play over Xmas but in the end it's full of bugs and just need a break from shooting shit. Blues skies and nice tunes here.....

I just started this and despite being a bit miserable last night, it took my mind off things and made me laugh. Bringing back that BOTW sense of exploration, too. I think it’s about £30 at the moment.

I haven't played any in a while but the LocoRoco series is generally a colourful and happy time. A full playthrough might demand a few hours, but it's separated into stages so it's something you can just throw on to kill a spare moment.
