So, has anyone here played this on base Xbox One? Obviously hearing plenty of base PS4 players having issues with the game so it has to be worse on Xbone, Shirley?

Didn't every base Xbox One owner on here - all 50 of them - buy a Series X, Series S or PS5?!

Buying games is such a minefield these days. Lots of modern games are clearly "faulty" as far as the consumer is concerned - bugs ruining the experience etc, but vendors don't tend to recognise this. Even worse is when a game becomes degraded or unusable well after it was purchased due to a patch or some server-side issue. I managed to get a refund from MS for Watch Dogs Legion because a fault developed - for every single Xbox Series player -  two weeks after I bought the game whereby your progress would randomly stop saving, making the game not worth playing. By that point I was past the 14 day refund period but MS did eventually give me a refund. I certainly would still not trust Sony with digital purchases because of things like this.

I find it interesting in the Eurogamer article that CDPR's statement about refunds is a little more equivocal than initially thought.

Which feels a little bit of a cop-out. Basically you're back to relying on retailer goodwill.

So they've done a bait and switch on the console versions and then made a bit of placatory noise but taken no actual action on trying to make it right.

I had always assumed it would launch buggy and was always going to wait for the PS5 version in any case. Not sure this shady behaviour leaves me feeling like they deserve my money at all.

Took 5 minutes for my return to be accepted on an open physical copy. If I'd have paid 60 quid for this digital on the promise it'll be ok on six months I'd be fuming. You don't order a coat that doesn't fit to be told you should diet for six months

From that Eurogamer piece:

It seems harder to secure a refund when it comes to physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077. GAME store staff are not currently giving out refunds, instead pointing customers to the refund email address CD Projekt included in its statement. When I asked my local GAME store if I could get a refund on the Xbox One version of the game because I considered it to be faulty, a member of staff replied to say no, pointed out updates are coming, and suggested I email CD Projekt.

CDPR are taking a real battering at the moment and I think it would be hard to defend them. Reading one of the many, many threads over at Era and they admitted in that emergency conference call that they didn't really spend any time on the PS4/XBO versions because they were focussed on PC - quite obviously that shows, but the way it was said was just so, indifferent? It's perhaps taken out of context slightly, but even so it's bad.

The whole refund announcement is amazing in how it very much infers they have some kind of agreement with Sony/MS to get exceptional refunds put through when, in reality, they've done nothing. Absolutely nothing. And then to push the confusion on websites that reported their exact words is just...<mind blown>

When I first starting reading about this game in Edge, it was touted as a game that required next gen hardware to work. I had no idea they would proceed with getting it onto a base PS4 or Xbox One whatever.

They should have gone PC-only first and then PS5 and Xbox whatever-the-fuck-that-thing-is-called-that-is-next-gen

This would have been the right move, I think. Ditch the OG console versions entirely, and release it on PS5, Xbox SS/SX and PC.

Make it more like the pc version.

At the same time it can't be on CDPR's head to somehow equip console-based AMD hardware with RTX capabilities. My 3080 just about gets it out at 4K/60FPS, thanks to DLSS 2.0*, which doesn't exist outside of Nvidia hardware.

* It's really only rendering at 1080p, but the hardware-based AI is upscaling it tremendously well.

It should never have been on the PS4/XB1, and been delayed for the PS5/XSX.

FWIW my brother has been trying to play this on his XBOne and his time doing so plagued with bugs including a few hard locks.

He bought digitally from the MS store and was told yesterday they would not refund purely as it had passed the 14 day mark- no mention of his complaint regarding bugs and lack of acceptable quality.

Sony told me to get cunted so I replied saying I'll be filing my case with the courts tomorrow morning and I've been in touch with a consumer rights lawyer, which I actually have been because my mate is one.

I just want to poke the fucking nest now. I'm sick of this apologist gamer Stockholm bollocks.

I imagine they’re pulling an all-nighter right now about what to do about this.

Is there another industry where the consumer has so few rights? They're so far behind the times, it's unreal.

I bought it on XBox (to play on XSX) but am not interested in playing it for about 6 months. Hopefully by that time it will be fixed.

Im just going to buy it six months time when it will be half the price. If it's not fixed by then I'll eventually pick it up on GamePass I guess :D
