I'm glad these features have been added now, but they really should have been there from the beginning, or a lot sooner, anyway. Hopefully it'll give others the incentive they need to play this, as it's a great game. I'm still holding out on some DLC.

Same. I completed it enough times to "fully" finish it but I couldn't be arsed endlessly playing to collect everything for the platinum. Will go back if any DLC drops.

Ah, finally I can get round to doing my final run and unlock the last secrets of Atropos. I've been putting it off because I just don't want to commit to a 5 hour gaming session on one game, or use sleep mode when I've got a bunch of other PS5 games to play at the moment. Hopefully this will also bring a bunch more players to the game, or at least let Return(al)ing players have the confidence to carry on and see all the game has to offer.

I'm definitely going to picking it up now. The lack of save mode just killed it for me - I game in chunks between 15 and 90 minutes, so the original release was just dead in the water.

Booted this up again last night and… yes, this is inching closer to being my GOTY. 
 

The suspend function works perfectly and it even seems to work for crashes based on the experience of a mate on chat. 
 

Still spent 4 fruitless hours roaming the second biome for that last glyph. 😂

 

That said it feels like the RNG has been adjusted. Picked up multiple artefacts while normally I see those once every blue moon. Weapons also seemed to have unlockable mods in early biomes again. Finally opening up level IIs for mods I’d given up to ever see. 
 

Maybe still a matter of luck, but goddamn, the game itself is still brilliant.

HMM. This makes me want to have another go. I fancied trying to do all of it on one life (already completed the game by then). I could do 1-3 in one life but gave up after that.

Presumably, as they've called it 'suspend cycle' instead of just 'save', this works similar to Dark Souls as a one time save, wiped when you restart type thing?

Yup. It's now like most roguelites: you can quit the game and it'll keep your gamestate saved, but you cannot reload it again later on, only create a new gamestate.

Perfect. I'm not much of a roguelite aficionado and am fully prepared to actually hate this but at least I can finally give it a proper go and find out.

FINALLY "beat" this. As in I saw the first ending. Immediately went back in, and I'm 4/6ths of the way to the "true" ending.

This might be our first hint at DLC. I've lived Returnal for months and I certainly don't recognize this statue.

Anyone hankering after more Returnal could do a lot worse than checking out Roboquest on Steam. It's very different thematically and visually, but the gameplay loop is identical. It's scratching that Returnal itch hard.

I gave this a few hours a little while back. It blew my socks off but I was also splitting my time with the DeS Remake and mopping up Control over on PC (thought I'd finished the bugger, a couple of times actually but I'd forgotten I had the DLC and so now I'm running through Foundation, man this game can look good)

 

Anyway, I fancied a little dabble after tea, and, well, I haven't stopped playing since around 7pm. Fucking fantastic rush of a game. I'm getting slaughtered though, got Phrike down to a whisker a couple of times but I fluffed it. I'm probably playing it wrong as I'm searching every nook and cranny on each run, I'm trying to be prepared with health and weapons and something useful to activate for the fight but I think I should perhaps just start making a beeline to him soon. I just can't stop myself from looking for any tat or doing those previous dead body fights on my way to his lair.

 

I'm not looking at any tips or walkthroughs though as I'm enjoying figuring it out for myself.

 

Nothing on tomorrow, got cans of ice cold Coke Zero in the fridge and a Christmas size tub of Cheeselets, gonna pop a Pro Plus and pull an all nighter. Need a new biome to explore.

I kind of skimmed through a walkthrough of the thing and that’s the hint I got, but I’m wondering if I just missed out on huge amounts of pertinent data!

 

I should point out that whilst I desperately want to play the thing I know I’d not be good enough to get to the end
