@Fargo For the CX, check you don't have Dynamic tone mapping on as well. Initially it gives some extra pop to the image but completely fucks with your white levels and gets brightness calibration all wrong. So make sure it's off or you use HGiG (although I don't think that makes a difference unless it's a compatible game). You get a much more natural picture with it off anyway.

I'm a little way into ME2 and I've noticed how shite the human squadmates are*. Ashley, Kaiden, Jacob, Miranda, Zaeed.. all boring AF, whereas the aliens are brilliant.

* Kasumi is pretty cool I guess.

This is the story in all three games. Stop trying to make me care about your human characters, Bioware, it isn't going to happen.*

* bar Gabby and Kenneth, naturally

I liked Miranda (she’s OP in ME2)

Jacob is dull as dishwater though - I nearly forgot who he was in ME3 when he turns up. Next time he’s going in the vents.

Zaeed is one note.

I really like Kaiden - he gets growth and arc in ME3 and nice perspective. it’s actually amazing how much he gets in ME3 whereas Ashley gets nothing.

But you’re right most of the best characters are alien

There would be a temptation to just use Tali and Garrus for literally everything.

I tend to default to Garrus and Mordin all the time at the moment.

As an aside though, and totally tempting fate, this is probably the first game I've played on ps5 that hasn't crashed. Weird.

Just finished 3. The final couple of hours are mind numbing bad. Thinking of choosing the poorest possible final choice just as a fuck you to the game. What a dumpster fire.

edit: hold up, none of the completion trophies popped. Don’t tell me it’s because of the final choice I made.

Did your Achievements pop when you chose that option? Mine did not, so I am now reluctantly tempted to replay that entire section (on sodding Insanity).

On PS5 there was an auto save from your arrival at the citadel.

Lots of slow walking but easy to repeat

Is there? Ow I sure do hope so. Gonna check right now, screw work.

edit: there is right before The Return. Great, I am less annoyed now 😒

edit: back to being annoyed. Why can't I skip these shitty conversations/dialogues now. I could anywhere else in the game, but not here. No, this is high art worthy of being read/heard 🙄

edit: cool, that did the trick. Now to do Citadel DLC, NG+ for the stupid weapon Trophy and afterwards back to ME1 for that one "find all relics" Trophy. Should be fun :)

WTF is with the maps in these games, anyway (I'm talking ME1 & 2 here)? The first game's map is so utterly laughable and primitive, and despite its simplicity is still a git to navigate... and ME2 doesn't bother with a map at all most of the time (why??) and when there is one it's ridiculously overly detailed.

I can't remember what the map is like in ME3, probably some 3D holographic projection that closes after nine seconds and has to recharge for five minutes.

So for some reason the companions during the Arena on Specter Difficulty do not attack. The two Krogan muppets just stand around.

Why is ME3 so poor on all fronts? Like, nothing works well enough. It's so much worse than I remember.

edit: tis a known issue.

Quote

Some squadmates, such as Wrex and Grunt, appear to be bugged in this fight and won't attack the enemies. If you see a squadmate just following you around instead of attacking, try a different one in the next match. If you want a heavy-hitting squadmate, however, James and Zaeed are not bugged.

Seriously. Just take the easy mode on that bit if you're doing to for the acheivements.

Take Garrus. Spec him for Weapon Damage/AR Rifle Damage (including outfit).

Give a decent AR (the Spectre one is good.) with +damage and extended mags

He'll melt anything. You basically become a sidekick at best. (It's actually boring in SP as so insanely overpowered, but sod doing the arena properly :P)

(BTW if you've got your insanity run achievement you can turn the difficulty down in the arena. It makes no difference to points etc.)

And that’s Plat. Jaysus that was a struggle void of much fun. Now back to 1 for one Romance (I missed the one in 2 but the game just wants 3 romances, you can do a save/load trick) and gathering the relics.

This time for sure anything different than a sniper. A fun melee build sounds exciting.

I got to the Citadel in ME2 last night. It seems a lot smaller than it did in ME1. Is it just the Presidium Office and the one ward (can't remember the name - begins with a Z), or does it open up a bit later on?

Zukara.

The shopping is over 3 levels but yeah it’s much smaller than ME1 - you don’t spend as much time there though.

Some missions will take you other bits.

Have you ever done a Vanguard build? Charging/melee/shotgun fun.

I could never do anything but Adept though. Space magic explosions 🤩
