How do the lifts work; are they fast now? Especially that one on the Normandy.

You can press A to skip a few second in, then wait for an animation to finish. Fast travel still faster

I never played Soldier but watched N7 Kate's excellent class guide video and it does look more than a little boring. It's basically Gears of War with a better story.

Seriously, if you've only ever played Soldier please give Vanguard a go, or literally any other class. The biotic and tech abilities and powers are what sets the game apart.

For me this trilogy has always been about getting through the annoying gameplay bits so I could get back to the Normandy and talk to all my buddies.

Just finished ME1. My thoughts on it after all this time.

It's very much a game of its time. A cracking story, great characters but very short and padded out by a load of side missions that barely pass muster as activites these days. I could have spent a lot more time on it and even did a few but my days of spending hours on the Citadel are long gone. I enjoyed finishing it again. Just started ME2 and already have a massive smile on my face.

I went Engineer but I think I'm going to go Sentinel for ME2. Wrex is alive and well. In case you were wondering. Renegade 4 life

I'm barely 10 minutes into ME2 and already having loads more fun than in ME1. Combat feels much improved. Popping mechs with headshots is very satisfying now and there's more feedback when you're landing shots. It's interesting to see how well the game systems evolved over time as techniques improved in games development. I love having all this in one package.

Also load times are just insane when you compare them to what they used to be on console.

Anyone else in physical pain about how they fucked BioWare and ME into the fucking ground. My face is tired from thinking about how good this was and what it could have been. We would be on ME6 this year and waiting for the next gen raytraced normandy.

Code has arrived from CDKeys, so the 100gb download-fest begins.

Not sure what platform you're on, but on XSX you can download each game individually so you can get started quicker!  About 30-odd gigs each.  :)

Yes, it's very sad.  Imagine what they could've done with the story?  Killing off huge characters, team dynamics like Fire Emblem (she doesn't like him, so they work worse together, but these two love each other, so you get this stat boost) introducing a super duper evil counterpart, huge ship battles, more complicated politics, planets exploding, races wiped out, new aliens, new tech...transporting, Vanguard floating powers...

Not really. Mass Effect deserves more than to be turned into McEffect, a product mass produced to the "consumers".

I’ve thought about this for many years.

You have a game with a rich story which comes to an end. Could you ignore all of that and just carry on and make another classic game? Is the playability of the game and characters trumped by the integrity of the story.

What if mass effect 4 had just thrown a load of stuff out the window and started like a mass effect game. Ignoring the fact it kinda ended.

Im torn.

Aren't they meant to have made it the same for all the games?

Nope. Not even close. ME1 combat felt the same as it ever did to me. Bad.

Yes. I would love to see Simon Cowell become lead developer for Mass Effect 24: This time the Aliens are really a threat that our overpowered cookie cutter hero that must fight in order to "save" the galaxy.

Not in pain, physical or otherwise. But yeah, it's EA's fault for forcing the absolute shite Frostbite engine on Bioware when they were so used to the Unreal Engine 3. I've said it before, but look at Arkham Knight: easily one of the best looking games of the last generation. Even today it's fucking stunning. UE3.

Imagine, just fucking imagine what Bioware could have done with both Mass Effect and Dragon Age had they not been forced to use that godawful shite fucking Frostbite engine.

PC for me, and looks like it's just downloading the whole thing. Usually they have some sort of 'break' so you can start playing something on it though.

Andromeda was the right idea. Make the game have some link to the previous ones but an entirely new and intriguing premise. New races. A new galaxy. Same gameplay concepts. Each trilogy in a new galaxy. Maybe on episode nine the reapers are back! Or some other fucking awesome twist based on other great filter theories.

Then they went an EAed the shit out of it.

If Andromeda hadn’t been rushed to high heaven and been allowed to be made in anything other than Frostbite, it would have been a game to rival the others. As it stands, I love the game to bits, but it’s severely compromised.

It also had some really shitty level design, lets not forget. So its not all down to it being rushed. It received bad ratings because it was a bad game.

It wasn’t a bad game! The combat is absolutely fantastic in it, and whilst I’ll happily say there was some bad level design, there was just as much good design in there too.

it also has some of the best ‘hell yeah!’ moments in any Mass Effect games near the end.

Plus it has a decent ending to the thing...buggered up by them not doing the dlc admittedly ;)

I loved parts of it, but they didn't dot the i's and cross the t's. It had great potential, but it is what it is.

Shite, I was looking forward to the first game being rather more modernised.

Just get through it ASAP if you've played it before. ME2 feels a million times better. To the point where I'm happy to take my time and explore every nook and cranny.
