Thanks for your posts about the portal headset. I've been tempted as it is down to £188 on amazon but one thing has held me back everytime.

I want to primarily use it on PC as I don't have an xbox but I do have the latest xbox wireless adaptor to use controllers on my PC which this can connect to. But all over reddit I'm reading this causes disconnects and dropouts. There is a PC/PS version they made but that's near £400

Do either of you use it on PC and if so whats your experience? I'll give it a miss probably if they can't make a £449 headset work correctly beyond a single platform

I haven't used it on PC at all. You are right though, everything I've also read suggests that they work horribly on PC (the Xbox version at least) sadly.

Thanks, I'll give them a miss! Shame

Considering they are end of line, it wouldn't surprise me if the PS5 version gets a huge discount soon and that version works just fine with the PC. You might get lucky.

Thanks. I just stumped up the extra £100 for a preorder of the new Audeze Maxwell. Paid £303 for the below

With much better compatibility options, incredible sound based on their Penrose drives and a 80 (!) hr battery life I figured it will be worth it. Their mic is meant to have some insane noise cancelling which will help when my wife is watching stuff on the laptop next to me while I play warzone with buddies

Nice! I am curious to hear those myself. I have the Penrose headset for the Xbox and it's a cracking headset.

That looks pretty great! I bet it will beat the Portal as a gaming headset. For me the main draw of the Portal is that it does everything (that I need it to). I wear it when commuting to work, I use it in teams meetings at work and in the evening on the Xbox.

I never used them on pc though, it's disappointing to hear they have problems. To be honest I never understood why they made two versions of the Portal, why not one that works on everything?

The arctis nova pro wireless is the best headset for gaming I've ever bought. I have the XBox version. The USB DAC has two ports. One "USB" and one XBox. The XBox port only seems to work on XBox but the port labelled USB works on everything else. I have cables running from my XBox, PS5 and PC. The xbox cable stays in all the time. Most of the time my PC is connected to the other port but the last few days I've just given it a quick reach around and swapped it for the PS5 cable.

Lovely sound quality and probably the only headset I have that comes close to my Airpods Max.

If anyone is considering buying these don't get the ones branded for the Playstation if you might ever want to use them on a XBox. The Xbox branded ones work on everything. The PS5 branded ones don't work on XBox. Neither work on Xbox one for info. Just the new gen.

Out of the box they don't sound great but there's youtube videos with very good eq settings. Once you set them they stay on the dock so you only need to set them once. I spent the weekend playing the new Dead Space and then part of the Callisto Protocol with them on and the quality was amazing. The 3d was especially good on the PS5 version of Callisto.

They also have the bonus of being able to connect to the DAC and BT at the same time. So you could be playing a game via the DAC while the BT are connected to your phone for music or podcasts (If that floats your boat).

I did try the BT connection on my Steam Deck and it worked great.

The Audeze Maxell arrived earlier this week.

Easily the best gaming headset I've ever owned. First of all, it doesn't have active noise cancelling but my lord, they way it cuts out background noise around you passively as well as the noise cancelling on the mic is absolutely nuts. I've used too fairly long warzone sessions so probably 8-9 hours since I got it and this is where the battery level is at wtf lol. The Astro A50's would practically be dead b y now.

The sound quality is great, everything just sounds so clean I guess is the word? Music sounds great on it too. Not cheap at £300 but really pleased with it.
