Is atmos or dts worth paying the extra ££ over windows sonic?

I didn't think I'd be arsed, as I'm a bit cack-eared, but I'll deffo be paying for Atmos when my trial runs out.

There is definitely a difference between them. Try them both, sound is quite subjective I feel.

Seemed to work fine here in Sweden, just downloaded the app with the headset on and it tells me my licence expires in 6 months.

Bit strange that it isn't mentioned anywhere that this is "included" with the headset.

I've managed to get it working early this morning. I deleted the Dolby app, did a full restart of the Xbox and re-downloaded the app. I then connected the headset and launched the app and it says the licence expires in 6 months. Not sure why it was playing up last night.

The license in my app says it expires in 6 months even though I bought it years ago so hopefully linking the headset with my Xbox account hasn't overwritten my license somehow.

I came here to post the same thing. I'm assuming the app is just automatically showing the 6 months that come with the Xbox headset and that it doesn't screw up once the 6 months is up.

I managed to order mine from Microsoft around 0430 this morning. The majority of it was covered by MS reward points so it cost me around £7.

I've been messing about with the Dolby Atmos app with my wired headphones and although it sounds good and all, the wires just annoy me.

Will gaming audio sound better if my headphones are plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack of my TV or the PS5 / Xbox controller?

I'm currently using these which are a few years old but really comfy - I don't really want to stump up for a gaming headset if I don't have to.

Finding the official Xbox headset a bit cheap? B&O can help, for the same price as an actual Series X.

I've pre-ordered a pair  I wanted the light grey coloured ones though which means an extra months wait for some reason!

I think I'll be parting with the Xbox headset. I do like them, but honestly the Penrose X's are just so much better (obviously, considering the price)

Cheers @evilashchris Tried these settings out and headset sounds best so far, that’s after Reddit ones too.

I don't have the Xbox headphones but just by looking you could tell those settings the reddit guy put up were complete shite, I think he was trolling. Turn on atmos but turn off the surround virtualiser and turn on performance mode?! Performance mode's sole purpose is to crush everything so  esports types can hear footsteps precisely in CoD etc. It sounds awful. Atmos is kind of pointless if you turn off the surround effect.

It pains me to think how many people saw that weirdly viral post and followed it.

Wow, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts, do you have any good headphones in the house at the moment?

I've got the Audeze Penrose X's at the moment, which are really nice. Just fancied trying those B & O's out to see what they are like :)

I think I'd be really tempted if my headphones got lost or something.

I've seen that these B+O's come with a cable, which makes them a much more attractive purchase, Imo. Knowing that you can use them without battery, or after the battery is worn out is a good option to have. Also, that blue colour looks great, IMO!

Yeah one minor drawback with the Penrose, is that even though they come with a cable, they are powered so if the battery dies, cable or not, you need to recharge them.

At least with these B+O's the black ones are released a month before any other colour, so plenty of time to check out reviews, and then cancel my order if need be.

Hello! I’ve been searching for a new headset but am getting confused with all the choices. Here’s what I’m after:

Wireless

For PS4 & 5 and Switch

Some kind of surround sound, noise-cancelling a bonus

Good battery life and nice and comfy (for big ears!)

Budget £100-200

Any ideas, please?

Arctis 7x ticks most of those boxes. Note that the Surround sound effect is software based depending on the system, not hardware. Pulse 3d on ps5.

This guy has reviewed the Bang and Olufsen headset. He admits he hasn't owned it long enough to really give deep impressions, but he seems to know his stuff and is honest enough to admit that if you are using them just for the Xbox your money is better spent elsewhere. Seems like he thinks they perform much better (relatively speaking) with music than gaming. They have some lovely features though - as well as some odd omissions - and I love how they sync up with the app. He gives an example of voice through the built in mics as well (no boom mic, just directional ones in the ear cups)

It's a lengthy review at almost 25 minutes long.

Something I'm still confused about and hoping someone can answer here.

So I've got the 7x and through various deals I've also got Dolby and DTS on the Xbox - I'm still undecided what I want to use.

However - and this is where I'm confused - what EQ settings should Steelseries app be on if I want to use Dolby or DTS? Neutral, so everything flat? Or something else?

I know I'm probably overthinking it but still... Don't want to be messing around with too much and going Overkill.

Can anyone advise here?

So got the Xbox wireless headset today and no mic monitoring but they sound fantastic. Can someone check for me. When you turn game volume full on the left ear cup do you have to turn it back half way round before you can hear chat again. If i turn the game volume almost full then I can reduce chat volume as much as I want but if I put game volume to full whilst talking to someone I have to move it back to half way again before I can hear my mate.

There are some known bugs that were introduced with the latest update, but I believe they have acknowledged this as being fixed in the next update.

So these turned up today! First impressions are that they are bloody lovely :) Very very comfortable to wear. It's strange because they feel like they have a bit of weight to them, but you can't feel it once they are on.

Not managed to try them out with much yet, but there is a definite.....I'm not quite sure how to explain it - I guess it's like, every sound is given equal billing. Nothing is over-emphasised. There isn't that focus on just blasting out bass, you can clearly hear every little detail in a game (this is in AC Valhalla and firstly going into a dense wooded area, then into a market square with lots of people milling about.

It's nice being able to have the app there on my phone to quickly adjust anything if need be. The gesture controls are nice, but having an actual volume slider in the app is better. And you can quickly and easily try various equaliser settings and of course set your own as well and hear the changes in real-time. Something which would have been cool with the Audeze Penrose's that I have been using. These sound a clear step up from them, but probably (definitely) not an almost double the cost step-up. The app has been a bit ropey though in that it has lost connection with the headset a couple of times. This doesn't affect them while you are playing a game of course, but it's a bit sloppy on such an expensive product.

I just need a good music source now, as apparently they sound very nice indeed when used for music playback.
