Via the Xbox Accessories app. I think there's a seperate program, but I'm not 100% on that.

You have to connect the cable or use the official wireless adapter for the app to recognise the headset, though. I think after you configure them you can unhook them and go back to bluetooth, though.

That's it thanks!. I didn't even know that app existed. I have a wireless adapter but it looks like everything needs a firmware update :)

With this plugged into the adaptor on my PC the range is very good.

I've set these to "speech" now and prefer the sound quality. I kept switching between these and the Penrose and it dawned on me that I was hearing more mid tones because the Game setting seemed to be really clipping off the top ends. With speech it feels like a much cleaner sound across the range.

I don't really know how to express this next bit. It's kind of like there are "holes" in the sound, but that makes it sound more dramatic than it is. If I didn't own an expensive headset and had just £100 to spend, I'd be more than happy with these, and in fact would consider them a good replacement for my aging Astro A40 gen 2 headset. Definitely worth playing with the EQ settings though.

I still think in game mode, with a shooter like Doom, they would really bring home shotgun blasts etc and I'd sacrifice some of the higher ends to really get that bass pumping.

Re: Xbox headset again.

Just had a read over at Reddit where a guy claims to be a soundguy. Not sure how true that is, but he had some settings to recommend and I like them. He says that out of the box they sound muddy to him. I can kind of see where he is coming from to some extent.

They do have an odd range of settings though for the EQ and could probably do with at least a couple more frequencies adding. Here is his recommendation which is the best I have heard them so far for giving a decent range.

Yeah, I do agree that the default EQ is muddy - vocals get lost very quickly amongst all that bass, par for the course for most videogame-orientated headsets. I quite like the default Music and Speech EQs as mentioned earlier (I think, might be getting confused with another forum), but top end is still missing some sparkle.

I'll give those settings a go - I was going to wait on RTings to finish testing them in the lab and post up a profile before bemoaning them too much (which, FYI, does have a piece about the HS75 XB, for the earlier query).

On the bright side, they connect to the XBox wirelessly for £80 and they're not apple buds in a plastic housing.

So, I’m not quite sure how this Dolby Atmos for headphones thing works.

This Xbox headset looks nice, but I have two really nice wired headphones (Sen HD555 and Onkyo’s Maiden Ed Phones).

Is there any point in getting the Xbox ones? Will I still have the same Dolby Atmos experience with the wired stereo headphones I have, providing I have the app?

Ok, where do I sign up for Xbox wireless headset stock alerts?

I used the HotStock app - ordered one when it was in stock at Currys a couple of weeks ago and it arrived on release date.

The Xbox wireless headset sounds quite terrible out of the box, waaaaay too heavy on the bass. Adjusted the equaliser with that Reddit guy's settings and it's much better.

End of the day it's a £90 pair of wireless headphones so the sound isn't going to be amazing but it's perfectly decent once you adjust the settings. I have a wired pair of Sennheisers that cost about £150 and swapping between them they're clearly more neutral sounding and better at capturing very fine detail but then they cost nearly double and are wired so no shit Sherlock.

For those big single-player, cinematic games I'll no doubt stick to the Sennheisers but I'll happily use these at other times or when I'm playing online or just can't be arsed with wires.

Does anyone use the Corsair HS75 XB with their Series X/S?

Been eyeing these, a bit pricey but might be worth the investment?

I bought these before the official ones were announced (it was between them and the Arctis 9xs) and they are very good, include the Atmos app and extremely comfortable. Mic is detachable rather than retractable though.

Yeah they are clearly aiming for the Astro crowd out of the box. I haven't even tried it with the game setting and bass boost on. I can imagine them starting to distort to be honest. I hope they can update them and possibly make it a 7 or 8 band EQ. I don't see why that wouldn't be possible?

As you say though, they are an £85 pair of headphones and for that money do a decent job. I keep being tempted to going back to compare them to the Penrose X, but it isn't really fair considering they are 3 times the price - I do still think I'm picking up some mid-range sounds though that I'm not hearing as well with the Penrose. I think they have done a nice job with these to be honest. It's a shame that a lot of younger gamers will probably stick with the default EQ setting just because they are so bass heavy and not get the best from them. It's a big improvement using Reddit guys settings.

@ShimmyhillI wouldn't be tempted to pick any up though if I were you. Having seen your posts here I really don't think you'd like them at all. Don't let curiosity get the better of you :)

Sorry!

No worries man and thanks.

Also, fuuuuuuck, forgot you could EQ in Atmos app too. This should help a lot. I'm not a big fan of the surround effects on gaming headsets generally, they just sound like I'm listening through a sea shell. Always prefer just a solid stereo signal so will give these settings a go.

Hopefully with the first party support from MS, we could see some nice tweaks as these are very capable pair of headphones.

You're right, I just messed about with it and turning it off totally kills any kind of depth to the audio. Big improvements all round though using the Atmos settings there and curiously, removing some of the muddier bass through the EQ allows some of the bass boost punchiness to come through. I had a quick go at +5 and music was still clean but guns had a real guttural punch to them. Not really had a chance to fiddle properly but I do fear for my sanity a bit now with so many tweaks to be made.

Managed to get hold of a pair of Xbox ones. Never played using a real headset. So much sound. BFV was genuinely confusing with all the sound going on.

Used the settings from the Reddit above. Is it worth paying extra for the Atmos licence?

Oh and is it normal that sound stills goes through the tv eventhough you use a headset? So muting the tv is the only way?

I'd say yes, the Atmos sound stage is much wider and warmer than the default. Go for the free trial and have a mess about with it. Only annoyance is the very slight audio processing delay but I've grown used to it.

Yes, the volume thing is just an Xbox thing. I quite like it as I can hear my youngest and his mates calling each other names in Roblox.

Has anybody managed to unlock the Dolby Atmos offer?

Doesn't seem to work for me probably region locked?

Seemed to work fine here in Sweden, just downloaded the app with the headset on and it tells me my licence expires in 6 months.

Bit strange that it isn't mentioned anywhere that this is "included" with the headset.
