It’s not Bluetooth and you can’t pair headphones Bluetooth to PS4 or PS5 in any case!

It does support Bluetooth (as well as the Xbox wireless protocol) but your second point still stands.

You'll be able to connect it to your phone and Xbox, but not PS4/5

The Headset supports Bluetooth.

Again, can't comment on PS4/PS5 Bluetooth shenanigans, but there's ways around that with USB Transceivers, it seems.

EDIT: Seems like most of the Transceivers on the market require aptX to pump out both Audio and Voice channels at an acceptable quality/latency, so you might be out of luck when this headset only supports Bluetooth 4.2 and SBC. No mention of a 3.5mm jack on the official specs compared to what was on amazon, either, so that's fucked it somewhat.

It’s for ease really, consoles don’t support Bluetooth headsets natively and while there are all manner of ways of getting it to work usually inducing lag and crappy sound quality with many not getting voice to work.

There are plenty of headsets that work properly on both Xbox series and PS5 there isn’t any point bodging a solution that will give you grief!

  • 3 weeks later...

I managed to grab a pair of the Xbox ones from Amazon this morning after using the HotStock app to try all week. They’ve been going in and out of stock like the Series X was!  Ended up being Amazon’s notify option that enabled me to get them.

I had a brain wave the other week and tried putting my Genki Bluetooth adapter (for Switch) into the front usb-c socket on my PS5. Works perfectly for audio so I’m now using my Sony XM2s for audio over Bluetooth and just using the pad for the mic.

so chuffed!

I don’t think it works at all for the mic over Bluetooth but the mic on my headphones is so unbelievably awful I wouldn’t bother even if it did.

Just had an email from Amazon saying these are arriving tomorrow. I'd actually completely forgotten I'd even ordered them.

Any thoughts? Mine are on the way as I type this. Should be here around 4pm according to Amazon's flaky tracker.

The Violet Blade (Rik Henderson from Games World for you whipper snappers) is impressed with them: https://www.pocket-lint.com/games/reviews/xbox/156136-xbox-wireless-headset-review

Yeah, I got the 'been a delay' message from Amazon yesterday morning and mine are due here today too about 5

There must have been an embargo as there is a mass of review videos just hit YT. Overall consensus is that it's a solid, better than average for the price, headset with some nice first party features.

I've just received mine and will give them a run through tonight.

@womblingfree seems like it. All modern gaming hardware is sold out, all the time.

These are.....OK so far.

They're comfortable and build quality is pretty good. Ear pads nice and spongy and not too tight or heavy.

Sound-wise, they feel a bit boomy out of the box. The presets are the usual WTF and I've settled on a customised setup with the bass turned way down. The bass boost is fucking mental and not pleasant at all but I know all the kids love a bit of bass.

Playing Destiny and the height of battle they can get a bit muddy but patrolling around Europa they have some great separation and the music sounds lush and warm.

Will definitely stick with them for a bit, new headphones always take a while to sound 'familiar'.

I've got a pair Lucidsound LS35X and I really like them but they do lack punch and these more than make up for that. Gonna tweak a bit more and try some Division 2 as that has native Dolby Atmos I think.

Is the Xbox wireless headset sold out all over? Can’t find one anywhere.

Yep, they are incredibly hard to track down. I would keep an eye on GAME and Curry’s. They both seem to show availability  from time to time. It’s odd as not many of the independent video game online  retailers are even selling them. Got mine from Currys and coming tomorrow. Reviews look really good.

Yeah I agree with what @KartoffelKopfhas said so far. They are very bass heavy. The first proper gaming headphones I owned were the gen 2 Astro A40's and I would read a lot of comments online about them being very bass focused and until bought the Audeze Penrose X's I didn't really get it. But these remind me of the Astro's somewhat. Even with the bass boost off they pack a punch.

Odd seeing what must be younger guys on YouTube getting excited because they have seen there is a bass boost option. Welcome to tinnitus kids :)

Overall though, I like them. Not as refined as the Audeze's, but then they cost a lot less. They are nice and comfortable and I did notice some incidental sounds which I hadn't picked up on at all while playing Fenyx with the Penrose headset. I can see me flipping between the two headsets depending on what game I'm playing. I think the Xbox headset would be pretty nice with something like Doom.

Ordered mine nearly a week ago from Amazon, they were due today and now they don’t know when they will arrive .  Of course they are sold out everywhere now, so I’ll have to just wait and see I guess.

I ordered mine from Amazon on the 17th of Feb and they sent me an email yesterday saying it wasn't going to be dispatched for today. The email also said it was going to be dispatched soon, but I'm not confident.  I guess they've had supply issues.

I only ordered on the 11th of March. Complained and got £10 of credit. Someone on the HotStock website ordered last week and got his yesterday!

Mine arrived at 3pm, ordered from Curry’s on 7 March. Very impressed they got here on release day! Shame about the normal plastic bag wrapping but hey ho! Just tried them on and they are super comfy, reminds me of the Playstation Gold ear cups. Will set up after work.

Interesting that they even compete with the Audeze let alone pick out some details better, I assumed these would be the typical muddy boomy stuff you get from Sony or Turtlebeach at the price point!

Used them a little more today. I wouldn't say they compete per se, they have a very different kind of sound but still noticing small details that I missed with the Audezes. Though I haven't yet tried any of the presets you can use on the Audeze's via the app which may change things.

I think these are definitely much more "gamey" - I couldn't imagine myself listening to music with them for example. Whereas the Penrose's would work very nicely....in fact they do work very nicely with music.

I do need to try using the EQ and trying to get less bass and a slightly cleaner sound. Mid range they seem to be picking up the details, but for me the top end is lacking. It should be noted though, that my ears aren't what they once were and it's possible they sound a little cleaner to younger ears?

Still very happy with them though. I must admit I still find the Audeze's a touch tight so these feel slightly more comfortable for longer use.

Is there any way to configure these on PC?

Via the Xbox Accessories app. I think there's a seperate program, but I'm not 100% on that.

You have to connect the cable or use the official wireless adapter for the app to recognise the headset, though. I think after you configure them you can unhook them and go back to bluetooth, though.
