My first ever TV was a 14 inch portable with a circular wire aerial. I can't remember what make, but I got it for my 11th birthday along with a SNES with street fighter 2. Kids these days won't know the pain of trying to tune your TV channel to pick up the console.

Now I have a 65 inch LG C9 Oled and it's incredible. Previously I had a 49 inch 4k fake HDR Samsung which I thought was pretty good, but the C9 in is truly astonishing for picture quality and colour.

I have a 27" 1080p LG M2780D LCD at the moment. I had a 32" something or other but the display went and it was too bulky anyway so I scaled down a bit. Generally I'm quite happy with the image, but that might be because I don't know any better. :P  I mentioned in the "will you upgrade to PS4 Pro" thread that I would only consider it if 4K and HDR gets a big push from TV manufacturers and becomes an affordable prospect rather than a luxury purchase. Even so, people have said that affordable TVs are out there right now... but I'd still like to wait and see how Pro is received... :)

I also have a huge desk now, and it shares space with a smaller monitor for the PC (LG 227E.) Recently I've been kind of tempted to retire both of them and get one bigger display and a signal splitter/switcher, but I'm still undecided...

I also bought 65” LG CX last week. Picture is good but there are lots of things that really annoy me about the telly such as the interface, shit remote, catchup. I may return it and change it for a Sony instead.

Ok keep us posted because that’s super interesting

Currently our consoles are connected to a 1080p projector that casts a 92” screen on the wall. It’s a bit of a faff with cables and I haven’t worked out the best way of blocking out the light in the room, but when it’s dark it’s amazing. Playing TLOU2 in supersampling mode looks spectacular to me. However when the weather’s like this it gets very hot as there’s a massive lamp right above your head.

A 13 year old 42 inch Pioneer plasma. Still works great but I am hankering over a 50-55 OLED, not sure I can afford it though. I may give it a year until the prices drop on models with all the gubbins I need for hdmi and being good for gaming.

Anecdotal I know, but I had two Sony Bravia TVs and they both conked out within 3 years. Panel went on one and had mad ghosting on the other. I’d never buy another Sony TV.

I play on a 22" 1080p monitor in the study, which is still a step up from the 720p plasma I was using before I moved in with my partner three years ago.

A 4K telly is on my list of "things that would be nice to get" but there's no room for it in this house and we're still a couple of years away from being able to move, so it'll be some time off yet. But I do like playing in a separate room, turning the lights down, blotting out the distractions and settling in, so I could be on 1080p for a lot longer.

Still, it means the Xbox Series S is very tempting. I'd have little use for the extra power of the X, making it around £200 extra just for a disc drive.

Adding to my database. Cheers.

database ? I answered as doesn't seem that sinister a thing to reply to and as far as I'm aware you can't clone my identity from knowing I use a 4k tv, but what is the purpose of this 'research', just curious.

I have a 43" LG with HDR/Dolby Vision, its about 2 years old  I love it but lust after an OLED. Kids and I play on it and when its my multiplayer gaming night I wheel the armchair across the room until its 1m away and stick my glasses on.  I'm an old man so need every assist I can get!

Im not planning to change the TV for my Series X as that would be excessive.

Sorry to cause any concern, just making light of such an inane question.

Spoiler

I'll tag you as 'healthily suspicious' in the REAL database. :sherlock:

Spoiler

I don't even own a working computer, don't worry about it.

Once they'd fished it out of the grid.

To be honest, I'm curious about tellies re: The Next Gen (of consoles) because there's a lot of shite about 4K/1440p and stuff and I was curious how many people were even playing on a 4K screen.

Seems like a lot more console crew on 4K than PC gang but that makes sense if they're also watching Tipping Point and stuff on it.
