Can the S not remember more than one wireless network? It's annoying.

Nope. Does my bloody head in as I have put the password in every time my son comes to stay and brings his S with him.

I feel like Atomic Heart and Wo Long are the moments of truth for the Series S. Both are on Game Pass and so I’d much rather play the free versions than play on my PS5, but if they’re not both 60fps and a decent enough resolution for my monitor then I think I’ll be moving away from my S (and ultimately Game Pass), as much as I loved it when I first got it.

aren’t they both cross gen games ? I’d hope they be 1080p 60fps if so

sounds like you might just be better off with a series X :coffee:

A series X will be here with me tomorrow, I'm wondering is it ok to put it in a shelf in the TV unit or does it need to be out in the open for ventilation?

From what I remember MS recommend 4-6inches on all sides for ventilation.

Mine’s sat right next to a Denon amp on one side, which isn’t shy about pumping out heat, and a wall on the other. It’s still as silent as the day I got it.

I'm more or less in this boat but thinking of upgrading to Series X. The game that first made me most consider it was Guardians of the Galaxy as found the 30fps to be pretty jarring. The 'problem' is only going to get worse as time goes by or so my brain thinks, as newer releases potentially try and eke more and more out of the consoles. For me Game Pass is incredible and giving it up isn't on the cards.

Finding it hard to justify the £300 difference between a second hand S and a new X when I have a PS5, and I'm definitely feeling like Game Pass is diluting my hobby. I think a phase of being more selective with games, playing fewer of them, would do me good. I feel like I'm always looking for the next thing.

I was feeling this. I’ve put the Series S is in the drawer for now and I’ve let my gamepass lapse for a bit so I can catch up on my purchased games.

Feels good man.

I had the same experience. It's the same as with my huge Steam library or burning every single Dreamcast game to cdr back in the day. Games lose their value and I end up playing lot's of games for a very short while or not even bothering at all. The slightest friction makes me drop a game for something else. It sounds stupid but that huge library and constant drip feed of new games on GP is really detrimental to my enjoyment of games.

So I let my GP lapse a week or 2 ago and it felt great! I'm now mainly playing Cyberpunk and I bought Yakuza 5 for when I'm done with that. And I play Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne on my Switch when commuting. And that's pretty much it. I'll probably resub around the next big MS release I really want to play, play that and maybe some other stuff and then quit again. And I'll happily even pay full price if they get rid of the gold trick in the mean time.

My son got some disc games from a friend for his birthday - and, that was enough for him to want to use his combined birthday/christmas with a bit of help and updated from a series S to a series X.

Genuinely impressed with how smooth the whole thing went.

The difference in the games is very very noticeable.  60fps much more detail in Elden Ring.  Ray Tracing in doom eternal looks amazing... downloading Forza...

Seems to have some problems when changing from the home screen to 4K HDR into a game.  Sometimes takes ages, sometimes needs me to remove the HDMI cable - which is a bit annoying.  Any ideas on that?

Sounds like a handshake issue. You could try a different HDMI lead?

I'll give that a try - I'm using the one that came with the machine.  I saw a few folks having similar problems online but with no clear answers.

I just took my entire serie X apart and cleaned every single piece. Amazing I also put it back together.... And it still works!!! I was going to try change the thermal paste but once you get down to the CPU it gets too scary
