I should be clear I've owned an Xbox One since the Master Chief Collection launched. So all this is in comparison to that creaky workhorse.

Games I want to re-expierence on the Series X include Halo Infinite, the MCC Gears 5, Cyberpunk 2077, Sonic Frontiers, Mass Effect LegendayvEditionbandcsome of the newer COD titles.

The gameplay is up there with the best of them, as far as I'm concerned. I don't think it's a particularly good open-world, mind. It's an especially half-arsed attempt at it, but it's incredibly enjoyable nonetheless!

Whole heartedly agree - it's an open world light experience, and I actually really enjoyed that in the Halo universe. I love the Halo campaigns, have done most of them on Legendary, and Halo Infinite is by far my most loved campaign experience. I haven't gone back and Legendary'd it yet but I definitely will.

I hugely enjoyed the open world. The boss fights that change the gameplay from "hey, tactically take out this bunch of dudes in whatever way you find most pleasing" to "here's a fucker and he's going to kill you unless you play in this very specific way, you will die a lot while trying to find this out" can fuck off.

Oh hell yeah. I played a decent chunk of Cyberpunk on my XB1 before moving the consoles around so I could actually get to my XSX more often. Don't get me wrong, the engine pushes the venerable XB1 to its limits, I reckon, but the difference in moving to the XSX, particularly in ray tracing mode, is absurd.

Figure here is as good a place as any to ask. If I buy the Xbox One version of a game that has an enhanced S)X version, do I get the S/X version as well? Specifically Sniper Elite 4, where the physical release is listed as being for Xbox One and S/X but there seems to be different digital versions.

It depends on the publisher when it comes to different version, not sure necessarily how that applies to 'enhanced' versions. In the case of Sniper Elite 4 the 'enhanced' version was a free update so I would imaginge that you'd be fine in this case.

If it says Smart Delivery on the website you'll get whichever version your console is automatically. Microsoft are good at providing this information, you can just go on their website and look up the game and it'll tell you. As others have said, very rare cases of publishers providing separate versions either to download or straight up selling - Tony Hawk's is one example.

2K and Activision are two big ones that don't seem to use smart delivery. Sometimes EA I think. Be careful with what you're buying when you buy their games because of that as the ms store isn't really well set up for different versions of the same game in that way.

Pretty much everyone else it will just automatically install the appropriate version for you.

I just realized you can still remote install games while in eco mode. In the app, I told it to install Sea of Thieves. It returned an error, but next morning it says it was installed. Guessing when it came online to check for updates it can grab installs too

I’ve found remote installs hit and miss even when not in Eco mode.

Microsoft have also broken remote play on iOS devices when not on the same Wi-Fi network. It’s been 6 months.

Ok, so we know Ubisoft are still bad and people have a severe problem with the way they are run but I'm still interested to see just how this is going to work. Will it be cross platform and cover PC and console, will you be able to play everything through xCloud, how long will the minimum term be? etc.

I highly doubt I'll be subscribing to it as their recent and current output hasn't interested me so I haven't even had to consider any moral discussion about supporting the company.

Despite awful, awful writing, I actually quite enjoyed Ghost Recon Breakpoint recently. Wouldn't subscribe to a service for it, but getting it cheap was a decent pickup.

Though yeah. The problem here is that nearly all Ubi games all run into one another, so if you buy one game you've also bought 80% of their other experiences as well. Would work well as part of game pass, but not something I'd sub to on its own.

Another game that suffers with Quick Resume: Jedi - Fallen Order.  Every time I go back to it, the cutscenes are messed up with the picture and sound massively out of sync.

Really annoying how seldom QR works!

I found exiting to the dash before putting the Xbox to sleep mitigated this a fair bit.

I just quit the game and it always fixed it.

First world problems I know, but there are very few games who seem to use QR successfully

I'm going to make the jump today. Have an Xbox One and a good PC so I've been holding off for a while. So I just want to know where to get the cheapest 2tb ssd card or is there any point in getting a USB alternative?
